You may like looking through some of the vintage BMXs on this site, I was looking at the Skyway TA earlier today. Some really great pics on there:

My striker was awesome back pedal to brake, front brakes were leathal couple of times over handle bars going downhill.
Replaced with a bomber when I outgrew it.

The Mk1 was the only true chopper as it had the handlebars to match the name.

That's what she says! 😪

Everything is messed up in the 21st Century.

Food is smaller and more expensive.

You used to be able to buy Vesta Packs Madras.
Iceland hot sweet and sour chicken in batter.
Chocolate is not what it was.
Pot Noodle - Pots of the World Madras.
Nescafe coffee now tastes and smells horrible.

Chopper Mk3 has kept all the bad bits of the original and deleted the good bits, then made it much more expensive. What's the 'hot deal' here?

Had the original chopper bike when I was 11, lived in a flat at the time.. Weighed a ton going up 5 flights of stairs! But what a bike it was, built like a tank

looks crap to me save your money and buy a decent bike that doesn’t weigh a ton

I had a Striker with a big wip aerial with a flag on the top, i felt like the daddy of the estate

Expensive. Looks stupid.

The pedals on that Pro-lite are lethal

I'd love to give it a test ride.

The pedals on that Pro-lite are lethal

the pedals and chainring arnt stock in that pic, possably the saddle too, original bike from new had a one piece chainring
and cheaper peddles, i changed mine for KKT's though which were worse than the ones in the pic, quite often id wear my football shin pads when riding

Wish I had put mine away in the loft in the 1970's and forgotten about it rather than flog it for pennies....Have you seen how much these go for on eBay now WTF!!!!!!!

Going off topic but the same could also be said for my old Yamaha RD 350 LC ....for any boy racers out there??? Again, the price of these is ridiculous...I've seen them going for £7k - £8k+ on eBay.

I still have a few spare parts that I may cash in i.e. carbs & filters, fairings, stands, foot pegs etc. I held on to them in the hope I may get myself another one LC some day but I think that's now wishful thinking

The original Grifter was it, the future, red, blue or silver, weighed a ton and the three gears and chunky tyres were great. Yes, then the Grifter XL was born, the black poor relation with fancy decals. This was pre-Burner days. Oh the burner. I had an original Raleigh Aero Pro, the chrome Tange version not the Andy Ruffell team version. Christ, worth a fortune now. Sold mine for £20 at the school car boot sale back in 86

There, fixed that for you; or had you forgotten the terminal wobble the damn things had if you got above about 15mph??

Not a choppah

That Pro-Lite would be worth a few quid these days! I also had a Comanche only mine was Raleigh branded. Followed by a Grifter before getting a Team Murray BMX which wasn't much lighter which doesn't say a lot for it! Then a Mongoose followed by a Torker 280x when I'd finally saved to get the bike I really wanted. Unfortunately it eventually got nicked.

Needs the long seat or it's not a Chopper.

Ideally with a 3 speed Sturmey Archer and a stick shift to bang your nuts on.

But I love that these old bikes had proper names like Bomber, Striker etc. Unashamedly aimed at boys.

There's probably the Raleigh Snowflake now as their most masculine model.

Progress, huh!

Well Stranger Things than this have been reintroduced to make a few bucks ...

Where you that guy? Slightly older with an RD350 and your girlfriend in the back. I was looking on from my DT50 although I had an RMX125 for proper fun

If your gonna bring something back at least make it the same, this doesn't even have the T gear stick or gears built into the rear hub, mine also had a bit on the back to carry extra stuff (normally a fellow friend haha)

This brings back memories

While it's not identical to the original it is at least just as crappy a bike, just in different ways.

My first bike. Such wonderful memories

Arguably THE most dangerous bicycle ever produced. Didn't stop us loving it!!

Rubbish copy, the seats all wrong and no gear shift lever on the frame.

Yep if it wasn't the first 1 forget it

I wouldn’t waste my money on this, totally ruined the look! Now had they recreated the original for similar money I would be all over it like a rash! Even if they had just made the frame a bit lighter but kept the same style, what’s with the damn seat! Looks ridiculous!
