Thanks OP. Just signed up to the Beveridge vision, only 4 hours worth of study. I'll sign up for a few more to keep me occupied through summer. 🔥

Haven’t had any rain here yet
Are they valued by employers at all? At the moment I’m working towards a BTEC qualification at college and doing hands-on work experience so I’m not sure whether I should do a course or two from open uni too
Gollywood21/07/2019 20:48

I'd fail him solely on that question

ANd hence the message lol

Ask yourself this, could it do any harm?
Thanks I need to keep my mind active asvi approach 50
Great, I’ve done a few of these. I’m not sure if they would help me get a better job but it does show a potential employer I’m still willing to learn new skills even though I’m an old bag.

I’d be piqued if I saw a cv with voluntary courses on there, I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Its a the learning and the skill. Employers won't care whether u can use Spanish to order food, but your other half \ friends might

Directly valuing these, probably not; but in general I'd be more impressed by someone with a record of ongoing learning.

I'm mid 40s and study more now than at any point in my past. Can't get enough of learning.
No certificate no thanks!

What a stupid, ignorant thing to say! These are not on the same level as their undergraduate courses, let alone their postgraduate courses, nor are they intended to be. If you think the OU is inferior then, well just keep living in ignorance or perhaps sign up for one of their highly respected and accredited undergraduate or postgraduate courses.

As a recruiter, I can say that any demonstration of showing willingness to carry on learning is a bonus on a CV and can often be a starting point to a discussion in an interview. There are lots of free courses showing up on sites like Udemy too: a megathread here: hotukdeals.com/dea…283

Good luck!
Danke schon

I'm in my 50's and released my first Android app 2 years ago thanks to online learning. Coding is much better than sitting watching telly every night. I gave some heat although it's unlikely I'll take any of these.
I’m not interested in learning stuff because learning is boring. I just want free stuff and reduced price stuff. Will these course give me free stuff and reduced price stuff?
