Has anyone had a look at the list of terrible courses
This would only be worth it if it came with access to an ac.uk email, but it doesn’t so this is pointless.

Except for the fact its free learning of course....
I am 36 and can’t wait to get back to studying! Mates at my work look at me funny...

But in my case it took that long to understand that eduction is invaluable and people can strip you of many things and take away a lot but never what you really know! Unless brain washed, memory erased:)
And I wish I knew more languages - life must be so much simpler then and money finds you wherever you are:)
Brilliant share

Are these courses truly free?
Woops22/07/2019 15:26

Are these courses truly free?

No they steal your soul and what remaining free time you have in life.

lol yes they are free, they are on-line courses you do on the internet. They are about improving yourself either because you have an interest in that subject or to help with the work or other course you are on.

They are not a degree level or college course that have a formal standing

If you want to be a plumber or electrician you need practical experience from some one experienced, most people get in to these trades by either being an apprentice and not getting paid much at all or by paying and doing courses where you pay for the time of the instructors. I can't see any way that you could do an online course and then go be a spark without on the job experience or on a full time course with instructors. Also don't be an electrician be a plumber it pays better.

Something to past the time until the rain stops.

I think you could benefit from the course in the comment above yours
Great if you're interested in any of the fields, however the course titles are so vague I dont feel any wouod particularly boost a CV significantly. That's not to say they aren't worth doing though for personal development.
I'll be honest, I really just came for student discount. I'm really upset

I was kind of joking, but even better you actually get to do it, kids love the whole lets find bugs thing (older kids too) have fun saying no thanks when you get offered some bugs to hold
Think of Open Learn as giving you a free go at self studying with Open University - it provides course material online for you to learn from as well.

An Open Learn Course is akin to the study and activity that you’d have to do towards one Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) on their normal Undergraduate and Postgraduate modules.

I did two PgDips with OU and converted one into an MSc. After 3 years of intense studying, I lost the personal energy and will power to convert the second PgDip into a second MSc.

It’s important to balance personal life with part time studying and its not something I was good at, which is why I completed in 3 years rather than the 6 or so they give you for a single MSc.

Like others have said, you’ll learn a little something and show on your CV that you have an aptitude for learning - this can only be a good thing.

If what you’ve learnt peaks your interest further, by all means enrol in an academic module towards some type of formal academic accreditation - it’s very satisfying!
A very special good luck and best wishes for anybody expecting O U exam results tomorrow It will be fine

I don't mind holding some bugs, I'll say no to spiders but I'm OK to look at them from a distance. My little girl will pick up most bugs, today she was carrying around a caterpillar. We've been watching all the baby birds in the garden so this really is cool, even though it was intended as a joke. 🐦

Then you need to find a local college if you want to learn a trade. The OU doesn't cover trade jobs like that, you need practical experience.

You should get yourself a badge for feeding the Robin. ⭐

Having read that back, just be clear I am not emotionally disturbing the bugs just accidentally making them move ,although I am sure the process of being eaten alive could be a bit disturbing but the robin is responsible for that

Heat from me on this one. Can always add any of these courses you have completed to you CV to show any achievements.
This + the free Udemy courses have been making the difference for me in the last few months. I've restarted studying at the grand age of <#insert date here>.
