Nice bike but wow, that is a lot for 105!
Cracking bike, good reviews. High Modulus Fibre 105 R7000 groupset is solid have it on my Triban RC520 WS and Defy albeit the older version on that one. Dont need another bike, mustn't get another bike, gonna have to listen to alot of ...., oh geez i may get it!

Full carbon and new 105... Pricing seems spot on for me.
Hard to criticise at this price but at the full £2.5k seems very poor value with 105. I'd like to know which CF factory Scott use though for this model.
So little of a bikes performance is the groupset which many seem to get hung up on. This frameset rides incredibly well!
If DX are delivering it, prepare for multiple pieces.
If I perfectly fit a medium Giant Defy, which size Scott do I require?

It's not really the frameset either, its 95-99% down to the engine, i.e. the rider. There is a video on youtube between a very entry level road bike and a Boardman CF aero bike of about £3,000 (which would probably be closer to £4,000 with a top brand on ) and there is a difference in speed of 10%. Probably with a decent Claris road bike of 10kg or less like a Giant Contend which can go as low as £400 end of season it would probably be less than 5% difference. Anyway I think the mention of groupset was because of the normal retail price of £2,500 and only getting 105. I don't think anyone is saying 105 is bad its a great groupset.
I have no knowledge of bikes whatsoever. Curious to know why this is so much? Would this be like a “Bentley” of bikes?

It depends on whether you are a bentley engine or trabant engine. Bikes should match their riders, if you are a super competitive cyclist who perhaps competes in races etc then it could make a lot of sense. The price is related to the construction, Carbon fibre frames while lighter are much more expensive to make as involves hours of labour compared to conventional metal frames. The components are also higher end either because of lighter materials or extra processing of materials to make them lighter, i.e. drilling holes in the cassette cogs etc. It's all extra time and money to make a lighter more aerodynamic bike but its marginal gains. If you drive a Bentley you'll be a lot faster than most cars but a 90kg unfit man on a £10k super bike is still going to be overtaken by a 85kg fitter man on a £200 Halfords road bike.
I'd sell the fitted wheels/tyres and source a decent secondhand carbon wheelset and fit some low rolling resistance tyres (maybe Conti GP5000s) ..then you'll have a really impressive steed.

Possibly a small as its a more stretched out frame.

Take a look here and compare to your defy, the main things to look at are stack and reach

The giant propel with hydraulic discs is £100 more and would seem worth a look at with the wheel set it has as well. Suppose you have to like the green colour scheme on that one!
