Details

It's a beast. Equipped with the blazing-fast M1 Max chip, for work or play, Apple's 2021 MacBook Pro promises groundbreaking performance and amazing battery life.

The 120Hz ProMotion HDR display makes everything feel super fluid and responsive on-screen, while the six-speaker sound system fills the room with its punchy bass.

All this, along with versatile connectivity options and more pixels than ever before. "Pro" doesn't even come close to grasping how much power this notebook puts in your hands.

Keep in contact

Thanks to the MacBook Pro's onboard 1080p HD camera and three-mic array, this device, once connected to Wi-Fi, will let you take part in video chats or virtual meetings, enabling the fun of the office to come to you.

Apple M1 Max Processor

Apple's M1 Max chip is a whole other level of power. Its 10-core CPU is up to 2-times faster than the processor found in the previous 16" MacBook Pro, helping you power through CPU-intensive tasks like complex spreadsheets or 3D rendering. And when it comes to graphics, the Pro is up to 2.9x faster. The 32-core GPU makes video editing and graphics-intense tasks a cinch, and you'll be able to edit 8K HDR ProRes content while on battery with this powerful chip.

What is RAM?

RAM (Random Access Memory) is different to the permanent storage provided by hard disk drives (HDD), solid-state drives (SSD) or memory cards in your equipment. RAM is used by your device to temporarily store data to carry out everyday operations. The more RAM your machine has, the faster you can expect it to open and run programs.

Maximum performance

Featuring a massive 32GB of RAM, this computer is comfortable running lots of complex tasks at once, and you won't see any obvious lag or slowdown.

Easy on the eyes

The first MacBook to feature Apple's ProMotion technology, the screen can refresh up to 120 times per second, giving you smoother scrolling, improved responsiveness and crystal-clear visuals. Twice as fast as the refresh rates on the previous Macbook Pro, it'll adapt to whatever's on-screen; ramping up performance when you need it most, and preserving battery when you don't.

Magic Keyboard

Doing away with the Touch Bar, Apple's updated Magic Keyboard now features a full-height function key row, along with the tactile feel of mechanical keys that pros love. It includes new keyboard shortcuts for Spotlight, Siri, Dictation and Do Not Disturb. And Touch ID has a new, tactile ring that guides your finger for a fast, easy, secure way to unlock your Mac.

Solid State Drive

The 1TB Solid State Drive (SSD) in this computer gives you the capacity to store your documents and media, while ensuring speedy and dependable access to your files and programs. With read speeds of up to 7.4GB/s (two times the previous generation), you can open 8K videos instantly or store hundreds of thousands of RAW photos all at once.

Liquid Retina XDR display

Featuring 1000 nits brightness, the new Liquid Retina XDR MiniLED display on the MacBook Pro delivers deep blacks and bright whites. HDR content comes to life in photos, videos and games, allowing you to experience more true-to-life colours with realistically vivid details.

A battery that just keeps going

A single charge lets you watch up to 21 hours of video content or up to 14 hours browsing online. And, for the very first time, MacBook Pro also comes with Fast charge, giving you up to 50% battery life in just 30 minutes.

Connecting your other devices

Transfer photos and videos with an SDXC card reader. Connect to TVs or displays with HDMI output. Listen using a 3.5mm headphone jack that detects and automatically adjusts for high‑impedance headphones. Connect to high-speed peripherals or displays with three Thunderbolt 4 ports. And fast‑charge using the quick‑releasing MagSafe 3 port.

    2.5k for M1 2021 model I wonder how much for M2 2022 model
    Avatar
This is an m1 max, much more powerful than an m2… of which a 16 inch version doesn’t exist yet..
  2. Avatar
Does anyone know which M1 max this is, 24 core or 32 core gpu?
    Avatar
From the JL specs "The 32-core GPU makes video editing and graphics-intense tasks a cinch"

    Absolute bargain

£2000 too much, @£549 it is already a stretch, I'll give it a miss
    Avatar
Really? These are pretty spectacular specs for the price. Apple has produced a lot of overpriced stuff, but these M1 laptops are genuinely reasonable deals on the whole for what you get. M1 Max is a serious processor and is like miraculously efficient. (edited)

    How much is a plug?
    Avatar
It should come with one, my 16” M1 Pro did so I don’t see why the M1 Max doesn’t

With the way the pound is going this is a really good deal. I’m not looking forward to the new iPhone pricing coming next week..

One is somewhat at a loss for words in attempting to value a luxury product at this level accurately - not least as one finds it most bothersome that Mr. Cook's Apple Computer persists in not labelling the exquisite aluminium chamfered chassis to indicate the enhanced specification accurately to the rest of the world.

On one hand, such shows of lavish expense would be considered gaudy, but indeed how can Mr. Cook expect his most sophisticated clientele to pay such sums for 32GB RAM and 1 TB of storage when none of the eligible bachelorettes in attendance at the club house know for sure that the gentleman was able to afford such decadence?

Indeed, one might quite eagerly pay £2,549 for such an attractive example of this vintage; but let's not be flippant. The gentleman wants to know that the eligible bachelorettes in attendance can understand clearly that one is of substantial and rarified means.

One imagines this to be an even greater concern among the ladies in the club house - one recoils at imagining the shock and embarrassment of a young lady of class having innocently approached a seemingly well-dressed young man with a smile and warm greeting, only to find that the device in question was a lowly, pre-owned MacBook Air in the possession of a common shoeshiner! It distresses the mind just to consider such ghastly things.

I award this example four monocles and a pip-pip, and certainly hope Mr. Cook will hear the voices of his consumers in designing future offerings that better differentiate the caliber of their owners to potential courtship partners. (edited)

Just applied for a job with Apple as tech support online, they provide a Macbook free to new tech staff.
    Avatar
    You are definitely getting scammed
  10. Avatar
Is this an over kill for general browsing on safari/ emails etc?
    Avatar
Even a base spec MacBook Air is overkill just for this - you’ll see no difference in performance between the two
  11. Avatar
23% discount for last year's model with the old processor... this doesn't sound like a deal to me, this is about what I'd expect it to cost.
    Avatar
Not the 'old' processor, so not a surprise it doesn't sound like a deal to you
  12. Avatar
It's a great machine. I use a custom config with 1tb SSD, 32gb RAM, M1 Pro (not Max) at work and it works very well with Adobe apps. The speakers are massive.

The price seems to be unmatched, too. Even Costco's price is £350 higher.

The question is will it have a discount like this in Black Friday period?
    Avatar
I have a feeling the price has been reduced so much not so because Apple are releasing the new M2 pro MacBook Pro's but because we are going deeper into the recession and even though it's a bargain for the specs, it's not selling because in a full blown recession, spending on wants items decreases than spending on needs items. No one needs this powerful laptop except 1 in a hundred thousand that for them every minute saving is revenue, otherwise a base MacBook Pro 16" M1 Pro would get the job done, just tad slower.
So If I'm correct and the recession is taking more hold and going to get worse then expect the biggest discounted top end laptops on black Friday we've ever had! we should get close to this price for this model, maybe not match it. But I expect all models to have a nice discount and so I'm waiting for a 14" pro base to get a nice 20% discount. For what you are getting this is a fantastic laptop but like I said in a recession our perceptions of what a laptop should cost also changes, Apples margins only exist because of market conditions, in a recession market conditions change so Apple and every other company in the world has to adjust price

Wow = Hot, I paid over £3k for this on release and it’s the best MacBook I’ve ever had, forget about windows =
    Avatar
It should be for £3K. That’s a lot of money for what you get. I’d like some examples of why you think Mac OS is better than Windows.
I’ll go first. Finder is awful.
  15. Avatar
    How is this even hot?
  16. Avatar
Really want this but finally jumping ship to the new iphone that gets announced Friday

    Thanks SO much for this.
Was about to spend £2799 or so on the 14" MacBook pro M1 non Max with same 32gig and 1TB HD.
Now, for £200 less I get the max and the 16". Literally best deal for me personally on this app ever.
    Thanks again! 🏼🏆🍻

If anybody that doesn’t care for the portability aspect wants this spec already has keyboard, mouse and screen, you could save £689 and get a Mac Studio (£1860 at CostCo, £1899 at Very, £1999 at Apple). (edited)

Ah yes, I’ll put my Mac Studio on my lap and take it travelling.

New M2 Pro/Max with 3NM chips round the corner! Hold off.
    Avatar
Some people need it now and not in January (edited)
  40. Avatar
This is a bargain for those are looking for this specific model. I ordered exactly same one last year November and got it only this year July because of the chip shortage.
    Avatar
Sounds like this has improved massively, I ordered an M1 Max a few months back - took around six weeks to be built and delivered by Apple.

Still, it'd have been nice to buy itand get it immediately!
