It works out (if you add the £20 voucher) that BT will pay you 16p/mth net for the 500mb contract:
£5/mth for 12 mths
less £42 cashback from TopCashback
less the £20 voucher
equaling -£2 or BT paying you 16.6p/mth to have a contract as long as you are a BT client already

I've just gone through Quidco for just the £35..never had much success with TCB. Even then I get the 2GB deal for £25 for 12 months...providing everything pays out okay of course

Is this only for BT customers?

No...but you will pay £5 extra if not a BT customer

I already have a BT Sim deal, but that's all from BT. Anybody know if that qualifies me for a fiver discount on another sim deal?

Went with this last time around. Got £40 cashback from quidco and a £30 amazon gift card. All have been paid as well

I'm going to get the £5 deal for the Mrs. But was also wondering if ill get paid out again through quidco.

The only problem I can see is if your BB contract is up for renewal and you get one of these 12 month SIM only deals now, it could affect the deal you get offered when your BB contract is up. My BB contract ends in July so I'm probably going to get a 30 day SIM until then (probably LIFE Mobile), then use the intention to subscribe to BT Mobile as a bargaining tool come July. Am I over-thinking this?

Edit: I guess it's still a good deal even if you don't get the 5 quid a month discount. From my calculations, the 2GB deal works out at just 68 quid for the year in this scenario, should the cashbacks pay out OK.
