Might be worth maybe 50p when the digital switchover happens

Why's that.

What does the switchover matter??? Digital is transmitted in the same frequency range as analogue and your aerial doesn't give a cr*p what it picks up - digital signal, analogue signal it's all the same to an aerial!

As long as you have the correct aerial for your area, or a wideband aerial for universal reception, and it works well for analogue reception, it will be just as good for digital. Anybody who tells you different is trying to sell you something (an new aerial perhaps!!!)

Just the same with HDMI cables - lots of bull talked about gold connectors, oxygen free copper etc etc. If the signal can get through the cable that's all it needs - a cable can't alter the quality of a digital signal unless it's broke (in which case it won't work at all :-) )

I would always recommend the use of a log periodic aerial if you live in a good signal area that probably 90% of the UK enjoys.

Log Periodics have a very flat signal gain curve. They also have a tight polar response (i.e. they are less likely to pick up signals you don`t want), a decent “cross polar rejection” and low wind loading. They also have good suppression of impulse noise which can be a cause of intermittent blocking and freezing on digital signals.

Use one of these roof mounted outside along with good quality down lead (the type for satellite) and you won't go wrong.
