Normally hate in store deals but (pun intended) this seemed pretty good. Not sure if you can read the soon but says base and fittings are included.

good deal seen in my local asda.

fittings AND stand?

yes. fittings and stand. I bought one last week, went back to get another two but they were all gone!

It's a national deal btw

Thanks OP, I need a new butt. Mine has a crack in it.

oO

I like big buts and I cannot lie

I will carry on using my empty 2 litre bottles as this is just too easy. I like a challenge

That's a hot butt!

Bought one three weeks ago, absolute bargain,as. prices can be as high as £45 for this &£30 for the 100l !( I have one of them from Tesco direct £7.50 though!)/Was going to post item then, but just assumed someone else would beat me to it! Excellent item as rain water is great for rinsing black cars and glass ( no smears)& u van fit a hose to it then to a jet washer ( 210l is £3-4 water from the tap if metered btw)

Check out Aldi, they have a similar deal coming up , fittings and stand included

Do you have a source for the 210L being £3 - £4? I've just had a look online and most providers seem to charge around this figure for 1000L. I have two water butts to total 300L but as far as I was aware it would take a number of years until they paid for themselves.

I think you misunderstood sir, the £3-£4 is what I pay, pro rata for 210L of water! Simple to work out ! Your bill has two elements & if you're on a meters it shows supply & disposal; I get a £90+ a year discount on my bill for having my downpipes all connected to water butts & any overflow goes into a large raised roadbed that acts as a soakaway! My point is still @ £20 that butt is bootilicious value & u save by calcite/mineral free water & having to cloth dry cars & glass etc etc etc

Which water company offers that, does the scheme have a name? All my downpipes are connected to water butts so I would be interested to know if I am entitled to the same discount? thanks

I expect they all offer it to a greater or lesser extent - check with your own. But unless the overflow from the water butts goes into soakaways, i.e. into the ground rather than the sewer, then I doubt you'll get a discount. And the discount isn't great: padraig2463, your "£90+" is on what total charge, and which water company?

I used the Yorkshire water website here yorkshirewater.com/m/y…spx but did a quick search on a couple of other providers and they had similar figures.

this says that 150L costs roughly 30p (look at the hose pipe figure), meaning 210L would be just over 40p. this doesn't include the standing charges which you have to pay regardless of how much you use.

if you include the standing charges and the discount you get for having them hooked to your downpipes then you might get closer to that figure depending on usage. I'm a big believer in using them as they are better for the garden (the water would be the same stuff the plants get when it rains) but I don't think they make financial sense based on the figures on the linked website, unless you keep it for a number of years.

They're a much greener option though - it takes a lot of energy to purify and transport drinking water, and you also also reduce the demand on the system just that little bit.

for crying out loud: £90 discount off annual bill for non chargeable surface water + savings on tap water & using 104 × 210 l of collected water is?

I asked you which water company gave you £90 discount and on what total bill. And it's more to do with soakaways than water butts anyway.

got 2 in my local today. had to ask if they had any, as they were still in the warehouse. just what I needed for storing my ro water in
