Biggest selling point for me is that if you plug in a USB drive/stick you can record to it (approx 2Gb/hour) & then use it as a PVR (also used to pause live TV)

DVD player says it can play movies off CD as well but doesn't mention formats it supports (fingers crossed for DivX but highly unlikely)

It's not going to be the best TV ever by a long way & only single tuner but I reckon it's a cracking deal for someone like me using it for a bedroom/spare.

Will check what format it stores recorded shows in tonight when I get it home as if it's a compatible one I can watch them on my PS3/PC as well

why they making 22" FULL HD tvs, can u see the diffrience?:D
Didnt vote cold

To get a 1080p TV, with Freeview, and DVD player, and USB record for this price is a great deal.

I have been looking at one for my daughter for Christmas and saw this Technika below in Tescos which has many of the same function (but not 1080p) and that is £219.

direct.tesco.com/q/R…spx

it's a tempter...i'm guessing most of these 1080p small screens are actually based on PC screens? Do they look okay with SD freeview stuff?

Looks interesting, although I hope this part is wrong in the spec:

On power consumption 49 KWh/24hr Power usage when up and running

That means it consumes 2KW. Should warm the room up nicely though!

Megamart.

Saves as a TS file, doesnt open in WM, opens perfectly in VLC but no audio. Trying with Divx now.

I bought this tv today and it is not 22 inches

Then take it back and get the correct one, it states 22". How are you measuring it? or does it state 18.5" on the box?

adrian96;7027257

18.5...

At a guess, you're measuring the horizontal. The math seems to roughly work out to a 22" diagnol taking into account a ~16x10(9?) screen.

I use my 22inch HD TV (UMC) as a PC monitor too, works great. Otherwise 1920x1080 on a 22" is useless.

i personally wouldnt buy any tv that has a built in dvd player, youre asking for trouble. plus currys customer service is pants

I've always imagined "Jeremy Kyle watchers" had 64" plasma screens...anything over 42" is vulgar isn't it?

DVD player -/+r -+rw compatible? can it play back video from USB? what formats? region locked? NTSC / PAL compatible?

if your going to use a HD cable to connect then you might as well get this.

bigger screen, smaller price, same resolution.

only thing it lacks is a scart socket......but like i said, HD cable?

But that's a PC monitor?

Sounds like a good deal. Been looking for a decent monitor that can double up as a tv/dvd player without the pc being switched on for a while now, ever since UMC went off-line. These are starting to become more prevalent now - Morrisons have got a similar spec machine for around the same spec. Just waiting to see if anyone can give first hand reports of the performance of these beasts:roll:

Surely you mean, the only thing it lacks, is built in freeview tuner, DVD player, and the ability to record/playback directly from USB port attached storage devices?

Oh, and speakers, and audio input, and composite input, and component input, and erm, have I missed anything else...?

TS files play here on windows media classic.
Mplayer using MPUI if your CPU is up to it.

Does anyone know if you can play .mkv files on this tv?

I seriously doubt it.

Far be it from me to question DSGs specifications but the fact they keep using the term "HD Ready 1080p" while the maximum PC resolution is 1366 x 768 instead of the minimum spec of 1920 x 1080 makes me wonder if it isn't HD Ready that accepts a 1080p signal and downconverts it.

Edit: Though the number of pixels part of the full specification (2073600 pixels) *IS* 1080p.

I'm confused by what you mean here.

My HTPC with twin port NVidia graphics card connected up to my 40 inch Sony is running at 1920x1080.

Not meaning to sound like I'm having a dig here..

So.... Has anyone actually got one of these TVs?

He means that the maximum resolution of this TV when used as a PC monitor is 1366 x 768 - which is kinda odd, when the panel is 1920 x 1080.

He doesn't mean that the maximum resolution a PC can display on anything ever is 1366 x 768. :-D

Anyone know if you can make the dvd player region free?

(Note to self - have coffee before posting!)

a) Didnt try Divx 'before posting here' as I have other things to do, didn't get round to it last night either. Will perhaps try to burn divx onto a CD later to test.

b) Will try and check the max res on PC output from my laptop later today.

has it got a VGA socket ?for making it into a pc monitor too

speakers is the main thing. (maybe use optical out from consoles and for PC speakers are cheap even if u get 5.1 surround sound)

everything else a PC can do better........im sure everyones got a PC and internet to stream tv and record it and play stuff off USB devices.

zatoo = freeview streaming for free on PC! plus all the tons of video sites which beats freeview by far.
ps3 has iplayer USB playback and a web browser.

I have the earler version of this doubles as a PC monitor and TV in study. Using it this instant at 1920x1080 from DVI out on old ATI Radeon and DVI-HDMI convertor. This one is definitely "ful HD"

Are you stupid? I'll try and spell this out very simply for you:

This isn't a PC monitor. This isn't a PS3 display.

It's a TV.

That also has the capability to connect it to a PC, a Laptop, PS3 or Xbox - IF YOU SO CHOOSE.

Most people who are looking at buying something like this, are buying it to use in a bedroom or something - AS A TV. They almost certainly won't have a PC, a Laptop, or a PS3 plugged into it 24/7.

They almost certainly don't want 5.1 speakers trailing all over. They almost certainly don't want a noisy PC plugged into it whenever they want to watch TV, having to **** about booting it up, loading software up etc, just to watch pets win prizes.

They will just want to switch it on, watch TV/DVD, switch it off.
