Same here although I'd suggest everybody else spends 3-4 times the amount on the same HD quality but in a shiny blue case (instead of one in a shiny red case) just because HD-DVD is a dead format.

ive got a shelf full of laser dics another dead format if you are intereted in buying,,,buy blu ray,,,

Better deals have been added in the last fortnight, most of these titles for £1.99
Dvd.co.uk etc

They have gone up in price from £1.99

A Mighty Heart - £17.99 :x

You can always put them on your shelf next to your Betamax tapes :-D

For what it's worth, much like the Betamax, the better quality has again lost out to the 'Mass Production'

eh? What's "better quality" about about HD-DVD? It's just the same but a blu ray has more capacity.

True right there, the picture on betamax was well better than vhs, still remember my dad bringing the player home :-D

OMG, if it weren't for people like you telling us that every time a HD-DVD thread was posted, we wouldn't know!

Wrong. Do some research.

Picture quality on HD-DVD and blu-ray is the same. The difference is in the storage capacity.

Yes, because laser discs are the same quality as Blu-Ray. You fail, badly.

Nicely spotted. I added another 7 titles to my little collection.

Thanks

I got rid of mine about 3 years ago - I had about 80 discs and still haven't replaced every one with its DVD or HD/Blu-ray copy.

It was Microsoft that killed HD DVD. Only if they had put it inthe xbox the fight would still be going.

the £15 USB HD-DVD 360 drive has proved its worth more in using with my netbook and also in using the supplied 360 remote control for TVersity streaming !

HOT DEAL. It was inevitable that only one of the two HD formats was going to win the war but personally, I so wished it had been this one. I got stung by Sony's blatant lack of quality control during the Laserdisc days - at that time some people were paying £50+ for movies they had pressed at their DADC US factory that were duff right out of the shrinkwrap. So I convinced myself that I didn't want to support any of their future formats as a result. That didn't last long though, I caved in eventually... so, if you can't beat 'em, join em............... LOL. Even though I switched from Red to Blu a few months back, I still have a large number of these HD-DVD discs and an EP-35 & PC drive to watch them on. If you have the hardware to watch them, snap them up - this is hi-def at VHS prices. H&R added.

only rumor has it and purple rain are ones ive paid more for from cex as hmv didnt used to have them in stock.

as it is i doubt any uk site will ever have an hd-dvd i need now at a good price. i just use inetvideo from the states, hd-dvds not even out over here for $2.99 each and not on bluray either (and remember some movies will never be on bluray only hd-dvd).

i dont really care about it being a dead format - if it was alive i would have maybe 8, not 180. they all work, and ive been steadily adding to my collection so its not dead from what i can see.
