Day 1 of Land Tour – Los Angeles

Fly to Los Angeles, on arrival transfer to your hotel. Meet your Tour Director this afternoon.

Day 2 of Land Tour – Los Angeles – The O.C – San Diego – Los Angeles

Travel south through San Juan Capistrano and San Clemente to San Diego, the second largest city in California renowned for its year round climate. After a city tour, visit Seaport Village and San Diego’s relaxing Bayfront marketplace. Arrive back in Los Angeles this evening.

Day 3 of Land Tour – Los Angeles – Palm Springs – Phoenix

Today your journey begins and takes you through Palm Springs, the winter playground for Hollywood royalty, with its lively downtown and immaculately kept golf courses at the base of the rugged San Jacinto Mountains. Pass the sea of wind turbines that mark the entrance to this desert oasis. Afterwards you will pass through Indio, home to the International Date Festival in the Coachella Valley.

Day 4 of Land Tour – Phoenix – Sedona – Grand Canyon National Park

Travel through the Sonoran Desert, the richest, most biologically diverse desert ecosystem in the Americas. Continue to Sedona, a city situated in a unique geological area and encircled by distinctive red-rock monoliths with such names as Cathedral and Coffee Pot. Then drive through the breathtaking Oak Creek Canyon before arriving at the Grand Canyon National Park, one of the seven wonders of the Natural World. Stop at the rim to fully experience this mile-deep colourful canyon's plunging gorges, and rising spires formed by the mighty Colorado River.

Day 5 of Land Tour – Grand Canyon – Monument Valley – Page/Lake Powell

Today, enter the Navajo Indian Reservation, passing the Cameron Trading Post. Continue through the Painted Desert to visit Monument Valley, an area that embodies perhaps the most iconic images of the American West. In the late afternoon, enter the town of Page, situated on a mesa above the Colorado River. This evening is at leisure.

Day 6 of Land Tour – Page/Lake Powell – Kanab – Bryce Canyon

Visit the mighty Glen Canyon Dam, the second highest concrete-arch dam in America. From here you'll enjoy views of stunning Lake Powell, where crystal blue water laps against towering red-rock canyon walls. Enter the Mormon state of Utah, pass through the town of Kanab before visiting spectacular Bryce Canyon, where a tour through a multi-coloured world of sandstone spires and pinnacles will dazzle the eye. This evening, weather permitting, be sure to gaze upon the spectacular night sky filled with sparkling stars and brilliant constellations and take in the aroma of a pinewood campfire.

Day 7 of Land Tour – Bryce Canyon National Park – Zion National Park – Las Vegas

This morning travel to Zion National Park and see the massive rock formations carved by wind, time and the Virgin River Valley. This afternoon experience the contrast of Las Vegas, the dazzling "Entertainment Capital of the World," where round-the-clock shopping, nightly shows, and of course gambling are available.
Day 8 of Land Tour – Las Vegas

Today is at leisure for you to enjoy the many attractions that Las Vegas has to offer. In addition to world-class shopping, bustling casinos and Broadway style shows, you might simply stroll the famous Strip taking in its amazing sights, or "shop 'til you drop" at designer outlets.

Day 9 of Land Tour – Las Vegas – Death Valley – Mammoth Lakes

After a brief stop at the iconic Las Vegas Welcome Sign to take a photograph to remember Las Vegas. There is a sharp contrast when you enter the quiet and extreme environment of Death Valley. Stop at Zabriskie Point and Furnace Creek Ranch before continuing across the valley and ascending the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the alpine resort town of Mammoth Lakes**. The area gained prominence as the gold mining town in the 19th century and today is renowned for the superior skiing terrain and staggeringly beautiful mountain vistas.

**Winter Routing. The Tioga Pass may be closed due to weather or road conditions, in which case you will overnight in Fresno or Visalia and a visit to Mammoth Lakes will not be possible (winter routing applies to all departures between October and May under normal snow conditions).

Day 10 of Land Tour – Mammoth Lakes – Yosemite National Park

Why not join an optional seasonal scenic gondola ride to the summit of Mammoth? Next, see theTioga Pass** into the scenic wonderland of Yosemite National Park. Here, you will experience the valley floor and its splendours including the glacial-shaped granite formations of El Capitan, Half Dome, the magnificent Bridal Falls and Yosemite Falls. Overnight in nearby Modesto.

Day 11 of Land Tour – Yosemite – San Francisco

An early departure to arrive in San Francisco, one of the most beloved cities in America. "Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair." Enjoy a comprehensive sightseeing tour before arriving at your hotel or transfer to the port for embarkation.

Day 12 of Land Tour – San Francisco

Enjoy a day of leisure exploring San Francisco independently or your Tour Director will be on hand to assist with making plans for the day. Perhaps join an optional excursion to the beautiful Napa Valley.

Day 13 of Land Tour – San Francisco – Monterey – Carmel – Central Coast

Depart San Francisco for the drive to Monterey Peninsula. In Monterey, visit Fisherman’s Wharf and the famous Cannery Row. Continue along the Pacific coast to Carmel-by-the-Sea. This afternoon, drive south through Paso Robles to Santa Maria, for one night.

Day 14 of Land Tour – Central Coast – Santa Barbara – Malibu – Beverly Hills – Los Angeles

Drive south through the Santa Ynez Valley into Santa Barbara, where palm lined walkways border white sandy beaches. Before arriving in Los Angeles, there is a stop in Santa Monica, home to the end of Historic Route 66. This afternoon, tour “The City of Angels” and see the famous signs of Beverly Hills and Hollywood before arriving at the Custom Hotel at the end of your tour. Overnight at the Custom Hotel

Day 15 of Land Tour – Los Angeles

Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK or for embarkation to your cruise depending on your package.

It's not cruising for the full 23 days - read the itinerary. Part of it is 14 days fully guided tour.

If anyone got this at the posted price they got a bargain, even if it's not the most amazing cruise ship. I would have been tempted but the £1299 price seems to be history.
