O2 is going to launch something very soon similar but worthy only for O2 customers.

Yeah I've been waiting for O2 to get landline pricing and deals out there for a while too.

I've found the fair usgage policy: phone-shop.tesco.com/tes…asp (100GB/month.. Wonder if they'll much effort on enforcement, similar to O2)

Can't find any mention of upload speeds? 20Mb line needs atleast 1.3Mb to be in the same league as O2 etc.

Are Tesco going to be LLU exchanges or are they piggy backing on another ISP?

Its probably all on the site somewhere, but sod digging around atm.

Too many unanswered questions for me to get too excited now, but £19 and £23 month is shocking value if this lives upto expectations.

i work for openreach i am guessing tesco is using a product from bt wholesale 20 meg will be in exchanges with bt's 21 CN enabled check sam knows website to check ur exchange.....

Only £19 if you don't opt for anytime phone calls.

upload speed? I cant see it, am i being blind?

Good price though!.

Thanks for the link... got this

So only another year and a half of 6.5Mbit and then can hopefully get around 15/16Mbit where I live, that'd be great, would finally be able to watch iplayer maybe?? - still amazed that I can't watch iplayer now on 6.5Mbit line without it being a bit slow most of the time or unwatchable at all during peak times.
Well here's looking forward to the end of next year then

you can't watch i player on 6.5mbit line? really? i have 1.3 mbit line and it streams perfectly well for me on netbook and laptop. pc struggles but that as it is about 8 years old and dying on me

does anyone have this tempted to move from o2, do they have traffic management like o2

Well, say from the hours of 11pm to around 3-4 pm the following day I'd be able to watch iplayer, but from 4pm-11pm there's not much hope of watching it because the speed drops to around 512Kbit - 1.5Mbit which is frankly useless to me apart from web browsing as it's likely to be nearer the bottom of that estimate.... I am with tiscali by the way and there's no LLU at our exchange either and nearest cable available is around 35 miles away

If this uses BT Wholesale then i would really think twice before signing up, peak time speeds will probable be poor just like they are on nearly all of the ISP's who use a re-badged BT wholesale product, i work for a ISP who offer a BT Connect service aswell as there own much better LLU services, I mostly spend my time passing those customers to cancellations.

I was hoping it might be a resold o2/be service what with tesco already reselling o2 mobile.

So if it is £8 and £12 for the broadband and calls, anytime and evening and weekend respectively, that means it is cheaper to go for anytime calls, than evening and weekend?

No the other way round my mistake :lol:

God knows when O2 will release their landline services. I am thinking of going to Tesco.

thanks for Pointing this out

Just telephoned them - the 1500 points has expired and the 20Mbps is not full uk coverage. The guy told me to ring back in a few months as they were expanding the coverage and would start mass tv advertising shortly.

The email they sent me states that the 1500 pts will be credited once you are connected and the deal is valid till the 16th of April. So clearly there's a comms problem somewhere.

^^ The 1500 points is probably part o0f the mailshot they send out to people on their mailing list.

Can pretty much comfirm this is on 21CN (BT Wholesale), rather than LLU. Tesco have just jumped on it quicker than other ISPs, expect them all to start advertising 20Mb services soon enough. According to samknows my local exchange is already 21CN enabled (was surprised). Tesco isnt on the LLU list, but BT and Tesco checkers comfirm I can get +8Mb services.

With that in mind, imo not quite the deal I thought it was going to be. Plenty of others will already do you phoneline/BB cheaper than this and you would imagine you'll benefit from 21CN as and when available. Tesco customer service and how strict they are with that 100GB FUP is what it comes down to imo.. I shall be sticking with O2 for the forseeable.

Not sure that many will be doing phone line + BB for cheaper though as margins are quite tight.

Has anyone signed up for this yet?

Having looked about the internet I think its going to be delivered
over the Cable and Wireless LLU network like the old Bulldog provider was
and for those not in a LLU exchange probably backed up with a BT wholesale
re-badged service.

Hiya

According to sanknows i'm in a LCACC, what does this mean and what download speeds would i get?

Thanks

Neil

WBC (wholesale broadband connect) is BT wholesales ADSL2+ offering (it's not technically 21cn) this is likely to be the product buy and sell on as their own. The upload speed is dependent on ISP but can be up to 1.3Mbps. I'm guessing if your exchnage is BT WBC enabled you'll be able to get this deal.
