235/40R18 DUNLOP SP WINTER SPORT 3D WINTER TYRE £65.38 @ AMAZON

Found 29th Dec 2017
Seems very cheap, £150 ish elsewhere.

If these are your size, grab a couple before amazon puts price up.

EU label ratings not the best, but on winter tyres I generally ignore them and go for a good tread pattern.

Free delivery for prime members.

Hope this helps someone.

Nice find! Shame it's not the R17
Granted its not going to be a size for the majority but those with bmws and such which run this size or can run this size as an option, its cheap.

Couldnt find any bargain 17s as thats what i was looking for originally.
Creeped up to 66.42? Buy quickly amazon must be clocking on to the visitors on the page.
you sticking 18" on a mini?

Out of interest why did you only order two?

It's not because you're only putting them on the front of your FWD car is it?

Not trolling here. Are you suggesting he should not do that?

I’ve just been reading up on this and it’s strongly advised to fit all 4 and not just two as the back end tends to skid out as they can’t keep up with the better grip of the winter tyres

Yes, he shouldn't do that.

Mismatching different tread patterns is never a good idea.

There's also the speed and load rating that need to be considered - again, mix and matching isn't recommended.

Also, although the winter tyres on the front will perform well, the summers on the rear will not and in effect are the weak point. If he/she decides to drive in really bad wintery conditions the rear end could snap and if this isn't corrected, the car could spin/crash etc.

The rear in a FWD car cannot be controlled and as such new tyres should always be fitted to the rear.

In regards to winter tyres, all four tyres should be changed and be the same.

I'm sure the insurance company won't be happy with two winters and two summers regardless of the good intentions. Some insurance companies want to know if you fit winter tyres as generally the speed rating is lower as it is assumed that people won't speed during wintery conditions.

Was very cheap even camskil tyres double the price which is rare.
I had these as 225/35 r18. I paid £100 each fitted about 2 winters back. We didn't have much snow then.
Is a terrible tyre in terms of grip, road noise and wear...

I run my a rated summer tyres all year. But recently moved to a street on a hill and they dont cut it in terms of traction in snow and ice.

The tread pattern of winter tyres helps you get moving.

Winter tyres have a different compound so if run when temps are higher than 7c for a long time (warm winter for example) they can wear quickly.

Michelin all seaons may be worth a shot but they are fairly expensive in comparison to most tyres.

I know mate Thanks for posting let's hope the two that I ordered arrive, no cancellation email yet.....

For the others ref the buying of 2/fitment etc - luckily I've been in the motor trade for over 20 years and tyres are a personal special interest........

Winter tyres are fit 4 or none to keep the balance - either 4 winters with good grip in slippery conditions or 4 summers with albeit poorer grip - as long as they are the same the balance of the car will be predictable.

The 2 bought here will match the 2 that were fitted to the car when I bought it last February (previous owner had only fitted winters to the front). These were removed and matching summers fitted at the time as it was coming into spring time, but living in Scotland means that winter tyres are actually useful. Though due to the feel and feedback from winter tyres I'm always keen to get back onto the summers as soon as the weather permits.

Worth noting that a quality summer tyre can be better in cold/wet (not snow) conditions than a poor quality "winter" tyre, many of the budget brand tyres carry the "M&S" logo despite the tread pattern clearly being for summer use, proper winter tyres carry the "Alpine" logo on the sidewall.

As mentioned above and contrary to many tyre fitters I always fit the new tyres to the rear on a FWD car- meaning the new grippy tyres are on the rear and it consumes the older tyres quicker on the front minimizing any losses due to tyres ageing/cracking etc.

Did anyone else order these?
Theres been afew tyre deals honoured so i dont think u will get cancel email unless theres a stock issue. Tyres are usually shipped in from amazon eu and take afew days longer than normal.

The michlin all season tyres were about half price and honoured fine and alot of people ordered those.
Thanks Jordon, it's the first time I've seen a deal on this size, luckily I was still awake.

Cheers again!
Tyres arrived today............
..... 2 x Vredestein 175/70R14.......
Wtf. Whats amazon said?
I've not contacted them yet, will get in touch tomorrow, looks like return and refund is the only option.
What a shame. All the details on page appear correct aswell. Kick up a fuss and they will extend your prime membership a month or two for the inconvience.
Did anyone actually get the right ones?
I got the 14"

thanks
Got the 14" vredestein tyres too

But I was refunded a few days ago when I complained about how the tracking was showing as delivered on the same day they were dispatched. Tyres were delivered today
