Save your money, go to fortune teller
this will put jeremy kyle out of business lol
A bit high-brow for your average clunk on here mate.
this is a great price, family member paid a lot more last year due to not knowing real parent. tells you any hereditary conditions you may be unaware of, put her mind at ease a little. my brother in law also did it and found out he was part viking!
Makes a lovely Birthday present. Always nice to know you'll get dementia, Parkinson's, cancer etc and pass it on to the next generation.
Heat from me, was going to buy from the 23andme website didn't realise it was available elsewhere.

Haha, has he also got a certificate that shows he owns an acre of the moons surface? (_;)

We're all part Viking, and Roman, Anglo-Saxon, Breton, Celt, Angle, Dane etc. This small island has been a melting pot of cultures for thousands of years.

Stay away from this company and others like it. It will be used by insurance and pharma companies. In the future it will be a method of mass surveillance. This entire industry is US big-business driven

I'm not quite sure how it will be used for mass surveillance?

The more people who provide DNA and their medical history the easier it will be identify significant links between particular diseases and DNA markers. This potentially could help doctors to make diagnoses in the future.

You can request for your DNA sample not to be stored and used for other means. Or if you are really worried, sign up with a different name and a throwaway email address.

Mass surveillance is the ultimate aim. Just as there genetic sequences that medically "indicate" breast cancer, there will be sequences that will medically "indicate" you are a murderer, child molester or muslim and they will need to be identified and watched. The US have advanced plans for this type of surveillance. As for using this for medical diagnosis- yes you are partly correct. However, most of the world has to pay for healthcare, so the information is used by insurance/ pharma companies to sell their wares to, in some cases, very sick people at very high prices. There is nowhere to hide once you allow these people to sequence you. A medical swab, blood test, biometric scan or even a fingerprint could identify you- are you going to give the same false name for all these things as well??

I wouldn't have thought DNA could significantly identify religion and crime would be better correlated with mental health, post code and education but I may be wrong.

Do you have any links to articles on this? I'd be interested to read it.

Most people who own a new iPhone or iPad willingly hand over their fingerprint to apple and most documents and pictures are now stored in the cloud. I imagine you could track people better with this than DNA in spit but you have raised some interesting points.

I use the term "indicate" because it will be down to the authorities to decide if your DNA makes you a mass murderer, child molester or muslim- it will not be based on science or medicine- that is just a cover. As for US plans using DNA for surveillance- it is called DNA profiling- it is already happening, but this sort of company give an absolute genetic access to you. Just google it. Yes, I agree with you-wifi, bluetooth, GSM tracking already exists- I would never use finger print recognition for my phone and my front camera on my phone is covered by tape- I don't do selfies either. I also am not traceable by information currently on internet either- the information is either wrong or out of date. But to hand your entire genetic sequence to 23 &me is a whole other level.

Not really sure why they've put the prices up so much I thought technology was meant to get cheaper as the years went on. It was already a lot more expensive than the US version.

You get more results than the US one and I imagine the weak pound hasn't helped.

Interesting I wasn't aware it was more in depth. I found my results most beneficial when i used promethease.
Price is 150 now and superdrug no longer sell them (although the site says 'new product coming soon', i suspect it has probably said that for a while. As a user above states, I am surprised to see the price go up, rather than down since testing technology should be getting cheaper. Also, I'm not sure whether the UK one still gives more reports than the US, as I read somewhere that its become standardized worldwide.

Would like to do it, but not sure if it is worth such a high price
Now the US test is giving more reports than the UK one.
For example the celiac disease
