I've not known them match Scan but you could try clicking 'tell us about a lower price?' for it on the Amazon page:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-GN246HLBid-inch-Monitor-EcoDisplay/dp/B00IG0Z0HY#

Perhaps they will if they get enough requests?

I've been looking at the 27 inch model lately, but there are reports of many problems (with that specific model).

Regardless of what model you go fir avoid these cowboys. Scam are an absolute disgrace.

Blatant disregard for any consumer law and lie / abusive toward customers

I've used them for over 10 years and never had a problem. Only a single order in that time didn't turn up next day. Plus I even scratched the PCB on a two day old HD7950 which bricked it, one phone call and 2-3 days later I had a replacement.
Only bad experience was with a Hazro monitor after almost 2 years of owning and only received a partial refund, but that's not Scans fault.... It's Hazro's for being a shambles of a business and not replacing it.

I wish this monitor amazon.co.uk/Ben…4hz was back down to £159.99.

Anyone have any experience with the acer monitor ? Really want a 144hz monitor as of late, been improving in csgo and really think a 144hz monitor would help.

Lucky for you, but I'm not alone. These clowns shouldn't be allowed to trade.

Glad to hear it, but like many of the people on here, i've fallen victim to their dodgy RMA process. I was a long term fan, 10+ years like yourself and visited the shop on many occasions. But the last few years have been horrendous.

I've simply stopped using them now. Practices such as forcibly refunding money for a faulty product at a much lower amount than I paid (nearly 25% lost on a GPU that was just over 6 months old), and refusing to honour a warranty because the "manufacturer deals with it". That was until I drove to the shop and kicked a fuss up, at which point they're very helpful

argh why are they always 1080p and not 1920x1200. It's a computer monitor not a flippin telly!

Because it's cheaper to use the 1080p panels that they are already churning out to put into TVs than to have a another manufacturing process for an aspect ratio that most people don't care about anymore. You're looking for pixels in the wrong place anyway - Ultrawide is king!

Also never had a problem with scan. 7970 water damaged by a family member, they replaced it within the week. I get that you think you're trying to help people by stopping them from using scan but I think there are better places on the internet where your scan = scam mentality would be more appreciated. Btw, HOT HOT PRICE X)

Since when have manufacturer RMA's been not a common thing? But good for you shouting at some minimum wage guy in retail until you get your way For the sake of store assistants across the country though I am glad you enjoy shopping on the internet

The same could said of your mentality.

Simply believing because you have a fortunate experience with them (if you truthfully did) that the thousands of people complaining of their poor practises do not matter.

Good for you

Thanks I guess And if they are that bad, how do they stay in business? Surely if they screwed over so many people they'd be so out of pocket they would have bit the dust years ago? I'm not minimising your experience, I am just making you aware many people have no problems at all.

I've been using scan for years now for most of my stuff and never had an issue, plus I know lots of others who do and have the same experience. You come over as one of those entitled whingers who think the world was created to please them - you've had one bad experience and that's it - you've dedicated your forum experience to a torrent of unsubstantiated moans and groans about it whilst in the meantime everyone else has a perfectly good experience with them. The fact they are still in business after all these years would also be a good indicator to that too.

I have the Asus 27" 3d monitor I can definately recommend it.

TheElderRat

A manufacturer warranty is in addition to your standard and legal rights of a contract with the retailer. Going for the manufacturer RMA was going to take me longer and cost me more money.

I was exercising my rights as a customer that are given to me in law. Nothing more. I'm not sure why you're trying to spin it into something else.

TheElderRat

Shouting? What? Stop making nonsense up. You wasn't there.
I never shouted. I was perfectly polite. I did 6 years in retail myself in my younger years and wouldn't wish it on anyone.

They tried to sell the same manufacturer nonsense to me in store. I refused and produced printed copies of their legal obligations and copies of emails with the CAB (who forwarded it on to Trading Standards).
They made me wait for 10 mins while they "looked into it" and then changed the product.

I'm never rude to someone in the store - it doesn't get you anywhere. To imply I did otherwise is a lie, sir.

Must also agree i dont shop with SCAN following on from really poor customer service.

Just pay the extra and go to OCUK

I think HUKD should have a strawpoll for computer retailers and if people have had bad experiences or good to end these debates.

I personally rate scan as the best place to go along with amazon don't understand peoples complaints.

minicale

don't understand peoples complaints.

If only people had posted their reasons why in a simple and constructive manner....

But yeah, these debates are rather pointless. The sample size is too small. I'd much rather have actual retailer talk not allowed in deal threads, even though I'm guilty of it myself.

It's a good idea, but would quickly be abused.

These companies already have countless accounts spamming 'offers'.

Another happy Scan user, on the last order they even refunded me the difference when I inadvertently purchased without realising the product was on a 'Today Only'. Been using them for so long I can't even remember when I started... but again, it's anecdotal evidence (ie unsubstantiated). You can go by Reevoo or other rating sites I suppose but you'll never get a definitive answer tbh...

Another satisfied Scan customer of nearly 10 years. Big orders, little orders. Never an issue.

Haha, are you still trolling. You can keep trying to defend your company, but ultimately, everytime they are posted, there are countless users posting how unhappy they are, it appears they now avoid warning others due to trolls like you.

No I did not post what my problems where, but many others have in the past, who still end up 'trolled' by users like you.
