Seems like another corona season is almost upon us, got to mask up and sanitise etc.
60% alcohol ? Useless also not BSEN14476 approved which means it’s just anti bacterial - this is a virus. COLD expensive water basically and dangerous.if it hasn’t got en14476 it’s Kalimantan useless

It's not useless

"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says alcohol-based hand sanitizers must contain at least 60% alcohol to be effective. Alcohol kills germs by breaking down its cell walls"

CDC in America right? I wonder why Britain and Europe created a standard to test viral effectiveness BSEN14476. Tested against coronavirus. So next time you go to the doctor and he offers you pile cream - ask him for the one that hasn’t been tested to do the job.. good luck. 👋

It was the first thing to come up on Google.

No idea what pile cream had to do with a hand sanitizer deal.

Thankfully the NHS don't take the "First thing that comes up on google" into their procurement process and insist on proper BSEN 14476... you keep googling

The NHS do follow WHO guidelines

The NHS do follow WHO guidelines

That's not strictly true because WHO guidance allows medical professionals to use FFP2 where FFP3 are in short supply, NHS guidance does not allow these and must always use FFP3 masks, just one example of where NHS has decide to have high standards than WHO. It is also true in NHS they will want the hand sanitiser to meet the relevant BS EN standards, this is and always will be the case. Same as visors used in NHS have to be tested to meet the relevant BS EN standards.

This does however meet the minimum recommended alcohol level advised by Public Health England for use by general public if it actually does contain a minimum of 60%. I believe these are from china as they are actually made and imported by GEM Imports which is owned by the son of the former owner of Poundworld gemimports.co.uk/buy…htm . I do question the vague claim that it contains at least 60% surely they know the exact figure, would be interested to see if any percentage is mentioned on the back of the bottle as lot of these Chinese imports fail to mention this on the packaging.

I’m not convinced many of the ones offered in shops & business to use when entering meet the minimum standards, many feel watered down, don’t smell strong enough.

I prefer to use my own.

I'm basing that only on their claim of minimum of 60%. If it doesn't state it on the actual product then I wouldn't trust it

Carex aloe vera hand gel is the main one I use (the big 300ml bottles) and certainly can tell their is enough alcohol in it as the smell is really strong almost nostril burning strong. Some were more watery because of glycerin being in high demand but are just as effective.
