Manchester 1976: Cambridge educated Tony Wilson, a Granada TV presenter, is at a Sex Pistols gig. Totally inspired by this pivotal moment in music history, he and his friends set up a record label, Factory Records, and proceed to sign a number of bands destined to be some of the most influential artists of their time. First, Joy Division, who go on to become New Order; then come the Happy Mondays. What ensues is a blackly comic tale of music, sex, drugs, larger-than-life characters, and the birth of one of the most famous dance clubs in the world, The Haçienda. Told through the eyes of one man who was there throughout, 24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE graphically documents the vibrancy that made “Mad-chester” the place to be.

Only a rental.... I'd wanna buy it for that price as it's such an old film... It's definitely worth seeing though.
Brilliant film, one of my favourites. And I'm not even a fan of the music, watched this many times in lockdown though.
Good film but I don't know if a 99p rental of a 18 year old film is that geat a deal, as said above a purchase for that kind of price would be good.
It’s also available on Prime if anyone’s got a sub already.
Its £3.99 to buy which is a decent price, regardless of how old the film is.
As Peter Hook once said ‘A film about the biggest c*+t in Manchester, played by the second biggest’

‘2nd biggest’ - Steve Coogan?? What’s his gripe with him?

Like Hooky and Steve Coogan. Always weird when two ‘celebs’ you like don’t like each other. I watched THAT Jim Davison video yesterday and he has a go at Ade Edmundson - and I like them both

True that ^^
Tbh GQ did an interview with Steve Coogan and he said “The thing is, Tony Wilson is dead now, so where does that leave me exactly?” .. now that’s funny
This was written by the great Frank Cottrell Boyce, now better known as a children's author.

Do watch his fantastic interview with Richard Herring on YouTube. Some great anecdotes.
