linkinruss, I had read on many websites that this season was disappointing and needs to be much better next season, but i've finished watching it on Monday and thought it was one of the best. In fact it's one of those that I can't seem to get out of my head, I keep thinking back to it all the time.

I'd like to know why you think it's disappointing (pleaes note i'm not knocking your opinion, I'd just like to know why so many people didn't like it as much as I did).

Great price though!!

Great price, voted hot+++ and rep added.

Thanks OP

Excellent price - ordered

Great price, got series 1-5 when 6 aired in the UK from WHSmith at this price and been waiting until this has been reduced to pick it up.

Great find, going to order this.

Thanks

Excellent find, I have season 2 - 6 now, still need to get 1 although I watched it all when it was on TV!

I wish House season 3 would drop in price, I'm gagging to buy that but its still expensive :@

Hi Mkkbb,

It's been some time and I really don't remember what happened, so I'm thinking from the top of my head here. I guess for me it was pretty unbelievable (don't really want to spoil it for those that haven't seen it) I guess as the seasons go on, it just gets harder to think how JB can save downtown LA. I think like many others, it's more of a generic opinion based on which season was the best and compared to which season was the worse (and in my view season 6 was the worse).

Can't wait for season 7, anyone know if it's delayed?

Season 7 has been delayed indefinately due to the writer's strike in the US, they only have about half of the season written and filmed, so Fox decided to wait until they know they will get the whole season and can air a new episode each week.

worst season of the show ever, what a let down!

bring on s7 though, I was hoping it wouldnt get caught up in the writers strike delays because of the Jan air date, but ....

I remember when I first got into 24, I borrowed the first 3 boxsets and was instantly hooked after the first episode. 3 seasons in one week, thats the way this show has to be done, I've never watched a season in under 2 days since ... It's awesome being a student :whistling:

Don't forget Quidco! Tracked already but the payment date is May 2008!!

Great show and an even better adrenaline rush, without adverts and waiting a week jsut when it gets exciting :-D

I thought season 6 was far inferior to other seasons. It was still watchable - but far more episodes that left me thinking 'huh?' rather than wanting to watch the next one. It was too much 24-by-numbers, relying on the same old plot points that have become cliche (they're dead! no - they're alive! Jacks about to get shot - hooray someone saves him! Chloe hacks into a remote service station camera, pulls off a number plate, traces the guys address, Jack is there within three minutes! Oh no an exploded key-card - nevermind - some IT hack can find the manufacturers 'signature file' so Jack can show up at their home address three minutes later!)

Heres the main reasons why this season is a bit of a let down:
Despite Jack having been imprisoned for 2 years, once hes had a shave, you wouldnt know the difference. I liked how in the first season Jack actually felt tired, and had the occasional micro-sleep whilst waiting for something. In later seasons they dump this reality check, and Jack is all-out-action hero regardless of whats happened. In my mind this totally wastes the idea of him having been tortured for two years - they could have done so many more interesting things with it.
Wayne Palmer is a weak president, lets face it, the show lost 'umph' since David left.
Too many 'silly politics' where white house staff act like school children, change their minds, and act in clearly irrational ways (some of the plot points to this effect are seriously stretching credibility).
There is no soul to the story - whereas the first season was about family, the second was about choices, the later seasons have just been dot-to-dot stories with no point or theme.
Without Chloe, CTU would be a total bore. Classic characters like George Mason, Nina, Tony really made earlier seasons interesting but it all feels a bit too bland in recent series.
Real-time has totally gone out the window. There is a part of season 6 where a small flying nuke crashes somewhere - the time it takes for fire engines to show up? 9 seconds!

I recommend you try "The Wire", if you haven't already.

# 27 has it spot on. Exactly what ive been moaning to all my mates about this year.

The repeating plot devices, the fact the time thing has been thrown out the window, kiefers "shout shout, WHERE IS THE NUCLEAR FOOTBALL" style acting, the over emphasis on irrelevant plots, and the constant fact that there always needs to be a traitor.

The nina thing in S1 was such a shock, ok there was Jamie, but wasnt it fantastic how we found out Nina was behind it. There doesnt seem to be that long term style anymore, rather make it up as they go along. (which they have actually always done, but so thoughtfully that the story seemed thought out from the start).

So thanks for that excellent summary rabbitmoon. That said, season 5 was an extremely strong season, but arguably ruined later seasons (michelle, tony, palmer etc).

Furthermore, ive noticed that for every excellent season a poorer one tends to follow. I personally think seasons 1,3,5 are stronger than 2,4,6 (4 and 6 especcially weak). The problem with 2 occured with that silly Cyprus recording thing, and the unbelievability that a president would declare war seconds of something happening. So given that 1,3,5 were excellent, and 2,4,6 were not, perhaps 7 will be top dollar. Fingers crossed.

I concur- okay off topic I know but I used to love 24, but the more seasons there are the more predictable the 'unpredictable-ness' of it all gets (season 5 was a good one though).

The wire however is simply brilliant tv and just gets better and better. Smart, sassy dialogue, an excellent continuing story that has more believable characters in a single episode than 24 could wish for in 6 whole seasons and can often be found at the £18 mark to boot.

24 used to be my favouraite, the sopranos topped it. After being thouroghly dissapointed by heroes, The wire is the next one on my list. That said, much of US television is absolutely fantastic in comparison to whats on offer here (24, sopranos, the wire, seinfield, friends, prison break, heroes, CSI) in comparison to hmmp - spooks and corrie (lmao)

I agree there's some good US shows, but what about life on mars, torchwood, hustle, spooks and for humour, peep show and shameless

British comedy is excellent, wont argue there.

Not seen life on mars, but spooks and shameless im not especcially keen on. They are good, just not superb. its the stuff the majority of the population watches, like corrie, east enders, Dr Who, which i find embarrassing.

First post, fantastic price, usually this price after xmas on Play but not this year. Voted hot

I absolutely love this!!!!
I have watched every series via dvd because I can't wait for the next episode!!
I have to admit to 'being able to wait' with two episodes of series six but I still think it was fantastic. I love the character JB.

Have you seen the trailer for series seven????????? Bring it on!!!!!!!!

From wikipedia on season 7:

Season 7 will begin and end at 8:00AM and will begin airing in the United States when the writer's strike is resolved. The producers of the show have confirmed there will be no season 7 prequel bridging seasons 6 and 7. The initial back story will feature Jack Bauer on trial for his actions in the pursuit of justice. Meanwhile, a major national security breach occurs when the firewall responsible for protecting America's government computer infrastructure is breached. It will also feature the show's first female president, Allison Taylor, played by Cherry Jones, as well as the return of Carlos Bernard as Tony Almeida, one of this season's main antagonists, who was presumed dead in Season 5. This will be the first season to see Jack not working with CTU because it was disbanded by the U.S. government at some point after the events of Day 6.

With only part of the season written and filmed, it is unclear if Season 7 will debut in 2008 at all due to the writers strike, and Fox's desire to air the entire season without a prolonged break mid-season.

PS - I concur that The Wire is awesome.

Well i just ordered one, so THANK YOU MILLARCAT and well spotted.
Now i have seasons 1-6 but have yet to watch 2-6 which i'll do soon:thumbsup:

Normally around this time of year Play.com knocks the 24 season dvd's down in price to £17.99, Not yet it seems so well done HMV.

I'll wait until May to get my Quidco:whistling::p

PURCHASED! Great price, managed to get season 1 to 6 at £17.99 each this year. Although first time I have seen season 6 this low, good spot! Although I have yet to start series 4 so I wont read the lenghty posts just incase you spoil the plots! lol, Dont forget Quidco!

hmv.co.uk/hmv…579

Great offer for season 6, I have been a Bauer fan since day 1. Have not got Sky anymore will not see series 7 until it is released. :-(

jackthelad;1432624

Can't wait for season 7, anyone know if it's delayed?

yes its been delayed until autumn 08 due to a mixture of the writers strike in the US and the fact that keifer sutherland is currently in prison for drink driving...again.

It seems they have all the boxsets for £16.99 or £17.99 at the mo
