I wanted to get a cheap boiler cover for over the winter period, as my boiler can be very temperamental. I found this and the reviews (although mixed) seemed pretty good. TCB are offering £31.50 cashback and a 30% discount code. Obviously there are different levels of cover and the one I chose did not include a boiler service. I didn't want to have to pay a excess so I paid a little more each month. All in all a pretty good deal for peace of mind!

Standard Boiler Cover (includes boiler breakdown, central heating, unlimited call outs, unlimited claims, no excess): £3.54 pm (AFTER TCB)

Reviews are very good (on the whole). Just to say that my TCB has tracked and £31.50 is pending in my account.

Most of the positive reviews on the above link seem to be from people that were pleased with the sign up and registration process and the complaints are from people who actually needed something fixed.. worth looking into more before taking out cover.

Nice price but do consider if it's worth it in the long run. Our boiler lasted 10 years without going wrong and when it did the manfacture offered a fixed price repair for a reasonable price.
I guess it's all about peace of mind.

My 8 year old boiler started leaking the other day, I called them up and they came out on the same day and fixed it. I was well impressed as previously I had cover with Scottish power and they are a nightmare.

If You choose excess package with boiler service inclusive. Do I need to pay excess for just boiler service ? I believe if boiler service is inclusive in the package then they should not charge us excess. Any comments please ?

As usual this is for gas boilers only and does not cover oil fired boilers.

I'm in the same place, however when our boiler died last week I called British Gas at 6-30pm and had an appointment for the next day. BG may be expensive but if you consider what a plumber may charge in call out fees and the time it may take to get them to come around its probably worth it.

I'd like to save money but without knowing a track record its hard to know if this really is value for money.

Definitely one to consider when my cover with HES runs out next year. However, me being the dumbo I am, I'm struggling with the OP's calculation of £3.54pm after cashback:

Per month: £10
After discount code: £7
Subtotal for the year = 7x12 = £84
£84 minus £31.50 cashback = £52.50
Effective price per month = 52.50/12 = £4.38

Yes I done that.I have account on topcashback I clicked "get the code&cashback and new window has been open.So I choose boiler cover and add the code.Without code was 15gbp a month-with code is now 10.50.I ordered that cover but still no confirmation on email,there was a info order completet but need to wait for confirmation.
But there is still no cashback on TCB.Is that will be added when I will get confirmation on email from 24/7 company or should be added just after purchase?

TCB/Quidco doesn't necessarily track immediately or even for a few days. Have patience

As others have said, the numbers quoted in the op don't quite add up but it is still cheap so I've took the plunge. Topcashback tracked within five minutes for me.

Had a cover with them in the past and I had to chase them few times to set a gas service and then they confirmed a date verbally without any confirmation from, the engineer near the date of service.After all this, the guys never turned up for the service.
Eventually gave up and cancelled my policy. But it didn't end there. As per their policy, they don't even send a mail confirming your cancellation and as I feared, they took the next months charges from my account so had to make few calls to get the refund and then manually cancel my direct debit

All this when I paid £25 for my cover,imagine what you can get for under tenner.

manufacturer’s current retail price ("beyond economical repair"). If the the boiler is less than 7 years old they will give you £200 instead. Presumably for 7+ years you get nowt.

I can well believe that any almost any repair to an elderly boiler would be deemed "beyond economical repair".

The T&Cs also use the term "at our absolute sole discretion" 14 times which is ringing alarm bells for me.

One of my favourites so far:

"At our absolute sole discretion, we reserve the right to
use non-genuine replacement parts supplied from third
parties in addition to those parts that may be sourced from
the manufacturer or their approved suppliers."


I.e. void your warranty.

cant be any worse than SSE - worst customer service possible,the engineers seem to be ok but the communication from office awful.

My experience is that newer boilers seem more troublesome than those 10-15+ years old. Have lived with 2 oldies in the last couple of years and both worked really well. I have friends who have had to replace 5 year old condeser boilers!

Hi said the cover sales team will contact me soon by the phone and I will get cover policy summary soon on email.
As premium user I will have carbon monoxide check and gas safety check and boiler check for free every year.
Our boiler is new,almost only 3 years old now(Remeha 25c)but couple months ago warranty has expired,and also from the time of fitting that boiler we didnt make any checks so far couse boiler working very good.
But we alway was thinking about cover like this one with all the safety checks included,repairs etc.
Will call them soon to make an appointment for that free checks and will ask more about repairs parts etc.
For 7.87 pounds per month for premium cover if all will be ok,cannot blame.But we will se.
