Step-by-step guide:

1) Go here to generate a fictitious Alaskan US address:
http://names.igopaygo.com/street/north_american_address

3) Go here to change your Amazon account's country to the above created US address.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/digital/fiona/manage#cor

4) (optional? ) change your 1-click shipping address to your US address, here:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/css/account/address/view.html
If you don't do this, you might find that you receive an "unable to charge your account" warning email after purchasing GTA:SA.

5) Buy each of these apps; they're worth 200 coins each:

http://www.amazon.com/Strawberry-Shortcake-Bake-Shop-Kindergarten/dp/B00I0WCIMI
http://www.amazon.com/Dont-step-the-white-tile/dp/B00J99WN9Y
http://www.amazon.com/Dr-Pandas-Restaurant-FREE-Cooking/dp/B0091QS88K
http://www.amazon.com/iHeartRadio-Free-Music-Internet-Radio/dp/B005ZFOOE8
http://www.amazon.com/Food-Network-In-the-Kitchen/dp/B00C25OI36

6) Finally, buy GTA:SA which costs 699 coins, but earns you 2000 coins:

http://www.amazon.com/Grand-Theft-Auto-Andreas-Kindle/dp/B00HCU7OCI

A few things you need to know:

A) Amazon.com & Amazon.co.uk coins are non-transferable; free coins earned from Amazon.com cannot be spent at Amazon.co.uk, and vice versa.

B) Your Android app library is independent of the regional websites; purchases made on either site will be available for download on your device.

C) When you wish to return to the UK store, go here to change your country back:
https://www.amazon.com/mn/dcw/myx.html#/home/settings/payment
And here to migrate your Kindle account back:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/digital/fiona/marketplace/migration.html

D) People who previously purchased GTA:SA on Amazon.co.uk can benefit from this deal a 2nd time!
If you delete GTA:SA from your Amazon library ( amazon.co.uk/gp/…pps ),
and then repurchase it on Amazon.com you'll receive your 2000 coins again (FYI the repeat purchase glitch doesn't work on Amazon.com; I've already tested it)

E) If you have problems buying from Amazon.com (it prompts you to download the app), then you need to do the following:
- clear the Amazon android app's data
- install a proxy on your android device so as to get a US IP address (I used Orbot with exit node set to {us} )
- login using the Amazon android app store through the proxy.
- Amazon.com will now allow you to make purchases.

F) You can get a further 280 free coins if you buy one of the cheapest apps from the "Get Amazon Coins + 250 Bonus Coins with First Purchase of these Apps" collection. The cheapest in the collection is 99 coins.
This offer is only visible in the Amazon android app, not through the website.

Nope, follow my 1st link to generate a fictitious US address.
Edited by: "TehJumpingJawa" 30th May 2014

Working perfectly.

Thanks

Thank you. This has been very useful. I now have several extra apps free. I already had a US address anyway but fail to see why people are giving this cold as it's not much hassle. I just wish Amazon would upgrade their apps.

btw,, to change country on the android I had to change on desktop then reboot android and buy something free. it then said you have changed your country.

I guess this means it would work for other locations too

are any apps available only in us and not here?

yes, there are some differences. also some apps are more up to date. also the free apps are different each day. I've just used it to increase facilities e.g. winzip, shazam, tunein radio or remove adverts. it's pointless listing them tho as we all use different apps.

I see the numpties are voting it cold because they don't live in the USA when the UK one went red hot It's not like Amazon don't use international boundaries to their own advantage, is it ?

Have some heat :-)

Do you need to be logged in to the amazon app store app to use the apps you have downloaded?

heat from me, you've gone to the time to list all the links exactly what to do, I had a few problems because I'd already tried to get 3 of the 200 points apps last week and wasn't signed into my US account so never received the coins, but following your link I managed to remove them, and then get them again so received the full 1000 coins

Since got the GTA/SA with the 2000 coins, so sitting with 2301 coins in my US account, going to try the last stage from my phone next

Thank you TehJumpingJawa

No, once downloaded and installed they're like any other app on the device.

Some apps do have Amazon DRM that causes a 'phone home' check to confirm the license every time the app is launched, though that's nothing special these days - most Steam & Google Play bought apps do the same.

Shame this went cold, but at least a few people noticed it.
If anyone spots some US exclusive apps that are worth buying, it'd be useful to list them here.

How do i see how many coins i have ?

Phone still says 0 coins after buying all 5 apps (using US VPN). Country said it had been changed and buying all 5 apps said it give them me but can't find any option to use coins.

Doesn't work for me.

Tried everything again even using VPN on PC. I give up.

Even more problems now went to buy the extra game for 99 coins to just see if it wasnt showing up it allowed me and didnt give me 250 coins it give me 200 and now i cant buy anything with it saying there is a problem with payment.

Has anyone had success in mimicking/spoofing a kindle device, so we can download any of these 'Kindle only' apps?

It's not just GTA:SA, there are dozens of great Kindle exclusives on the amazon app store, most notably the new XCOM game!

I think my coins are just coming through extremely slowly. Now up to 600 lol.

Hmm, just a small warning. I've somehow got the Android client stuck on the US app store

Switching country on the website doesn't appear to be switching it back to £s in the app. (obviously I'm clearing data & such)

I wonder if making a coin purchase on Amazon.co.uk will fix it.

That said, it doesn't really matter, the app store is hopeless for making purchases anyway. Better to just use the website(s).

Think you can only change country once a month or something.

Original Poster

Worked it out.

As well as changing your country, you also have to migrate your Kindle account back to amazon.co.uk.

I have changed country 5 times now whilst playing with it. I have been compairing versions and prices. it just takes a little time and you may need to reboot amazon or buy a free game to get it to show coins and correct currency.

Wow. That's lucky.

Do you know if you get coins when purchasing apps? Like Minecraft. Or have they stopped doing that now?
