Zero percent finance has to be a deal!Heat added

It is not zero percent if the item is available elsewhere for less, as if you are paying £30 more, then your interest is £30

Why not just save up for it rather then getting in the finance bubble.

Yes I get that - so where can you buy this PS4 for less on finance then?

£249.99 really isn't that hard to save up. Finance should be used only when really necessary.

As said a hundred times before on these deals buy the cheapest going rate for a ps4 on a 0% credit card and pay back that way cold.

You get 0% finance if you want it and can buy an offer that's less expensive in the first place.

I got an idea, how about don't buy until you can afford it. There is something called saving up which people seem to have forgotten how to do. Loan for a car, ok but console FFS... Next you'll be borrowing for the lunchtime sandwich !

I'm of the opinion - if you want a PS4, or other gaming console - save up for it. Finance carries risk and if you can't afford the £250 outlet in one go, chances are you're at risk (however small) of not being able to keep up with the monthly payments. A PS4 is not worth a bad mark on your credit rating as it'll really hurt when you need finance to pay for something more essential (a car to get to work in or a mortgage) and can only get a poor interest rate.

I love my PS4, but I wouldn't risk my livelihood on it and believe it or not - kids can do without the latest games console. Get a much cheaper PS3 if they have to have a games console.

(This is coming from a gaming nerd that's lucky enough to be able to get the most recent games consoles, etc - not somebody who thinks gaming is a waste of money.)

Not really. I'm on minimum wage myself. Besides if you know it's for Christmas save up monthly and you'd save yourself the £50 difference on this "deal" overall. Wasting £50 due to lack of preperarion or pressure isn't smart.

If you got accepted for a Post Office Matched Credit Card the advantage would be:

    a) 0% for 25 months on purchases (so 13 months longer interest free than shopto finance)
    b) Possible £25 Quidco http://www.quidco.com/post-office-credit-card/

Always check your eligibility for a credit card before you apply as a credit decline can impact your credit record. The Moneysupermarket pre eligibility tool does a soft search (no impact on credit) and gives likelihood of acceptance

Fair enough Chanci32 - I'm glad somebody who knows what they are talking about took the time to explain the possible advantages

So - take longer to pay using a credit card ( subject to status )

Possible £25 quidco advantage? Hmmmm personally I don't bother with quidco although I'm sure it has its benefits!

Just use Very, PS4 and fifa 16 for £309 use the £30 off first credit order code bringing it to £279 then the 12 months interest free code and as long as you paid it within the 12 months £279 is all you pay

credit cards give you a step up the ladder when applying for a mortgage, if you've had no credit in the past you'll find it very hard to be accepted.

it's always worthwile to have a credit card aslong as you pay it off in full straightaway even if you only use it to do the weekly food shop, the added protection for online purchases is another bonus.

Aslong as you use it right and not just so the wife can have another £400 pair of shoes every week just spend what you can afford , never spend more than you can afford to pay back.

I used to be the never get in debt type too , buying cars outright in cash, mobile phones etc paying in cash meant i didn't have the protection should things go tits up.

now i part pay with cash/debit card and spend a £100 of the balance on the card to get the protection.

If you blow the credit on stuff you wouldn't usually buy then you don't need a credit card

Nothing wrong with finance if it doesn't cost you anything and you can afford it. I make 99% of my purchases on Credit Card. The majority of these get cleared every month and the big ticket items get spread.

I'd rather have my savings working for me rather than just spend them, that would just be stupid.

Have to agree I have a Amex and every thing goes on that as it earns cash back then cleared every month. Credit for credit sake is stupid but not if it's done sensibly

As others have said, getting a 0% credit card is a much more viable option. By purchasing this on 0% finance you're in essence getting credit anyway in much the same way you would do if you have a credit card.

However with a credit card you can get 0% finance - probably for longer too and also get the PS4 cheaper.

BUT BE WARNED - Once you have paid for your PS4 destroy the credit card. Sometimes a mini splurge on things because it says "you have £4,000 to spend" can take years to pay off if you're not careful.

Credit cards are the work of the devil if you don't know how to pay them off and can make you a slave to the wage.

However if you do know how to work them then it's all fine.
