Remember P&P is an extra £5.95 taking the total to £84.07, but it still seems a good deal to me.

this looks like a good price. Anyone know if it will work for my Macbook Pro?

Thanks

Yes it will. Opening your Macbook Pro will void your warranty if you have one though.

Sure it wont make the ps3 overheat or anything?

[QUOTE=TheKid;1894817]Sure it wont make the ps3 overheat or anything?[/QUOTE

No it won't. It spins at the same speed as the standard 40GB or 60GB drives.

Any benchmarks, wasnt the hitachi 320gb faster than the fujitsu 7200rpm ?

There's been tests online between the ps3 standard 5400rpm drive and 7200rpm drives, apparently the difference is hardly noticeable. Your better off getting a bigger drive at a slightly slower speed and saving a ton of cash in the process:

hey thanks skinrush!

I bought it a £80 a few weeks back. Excellent for my Macbook, ten minute job to change drive, time machine backup took a few hours to restore itself but it works perfectly.

I did the same about 4 months ago, but with a 250GB for about the same price...:x

Opening your MacBook or MacBook Pro to install a new hard drive wont void your warranty unless you break the connections when installing it. Which is pretty difficult to do.

There are no warranty issues with a Macbook, as the hard drive is considered to be a user replaceable part.
On Macbook Pros, you're supposed to get an authorised Apple service provider to install a new drive.

Not that it's particularly hard to do, and if you're careful, it's unlikely that Apple would be able to tell if you'd opened the machine up.

Here is vide how to do it - video.aol.com/vid…121

For those looking to upgrade their PS3 hard drive, bear in mind that when formatted by the PS3
320GB hard drive has ~263GB available space for use by the PS3
250GB hard drive has ~205GB available space for use by the PS3
the rest of the space is reserved by the PS3 so you can't use it to save stuff.

OP posted a 250GB hard drive for a good price a few days ago, which might be worth considering when you take into account the formatting

cool. sounds promising.. just ordered myself one

Thanks for all ur help guys!

Well, Apple may be able to tell if it notices the drive - it is not one that comes with the stock or BTO configurations. You may be asked to either provide evidence of fitting by the authorised Apple dealer or told to take your machine back to the dealer for repairs in the event of a subsequent fault. Either way, you're stuffed.

Remember also that although the changing the drive will not invalidate your warranty, the new drive is not covered by your Apple warranty, nor will Apple take any responsibility for any faults it deems have occurred as a result of your upgrade. A bit of a general cop-out.

That notwithstanding, I am going to do my own upgrade once the 500GBs hit £100 and I have no qualms risking my 3yr Applecare cover.

Please can somebody tell me how i can upgrade my ps3 with this???
thank you

Detailed PS3 HDD upgrade instructions here:

uk.gamespot.com/fea…tml

cheers

how much would it cost to get it fitted

Depends where you go. I asked at Microcentre or whatever it was called around the corner from Goodge St tube station. They quoted something like £60. May need to tack VAT onto that, but that was about the cheapest I got when I rang around. Others quoted up to £140-odd. That is for labour only.

I upgraded my PS3 to a 120GB HD Drive and its nearly full! So going to upgrade to this, BUT can someone recommend me a good case to put the 120GB HD drive in so I can use it as an external USB Drive.

thanks for the link.

I'd prefer sturdy and expensive. I have one like that for the 60GB HD I originally took out of my PS3 and I hate it, the HD doesnt feel safe or secure, or maybe I'm been overprotective.
