Heat works out about £1.49 with post

Good price, £1.46 with delivery for me!

seems to be 71p shipping on this

Thanks Ordered 1.
£1.46 for me.
Have some heat.

Hi folks a word of caution, I recently bought a phone from Gearbest and delivered by registered airmail (DHL), you will note they say costs may vary. The reason for this is DHL charged me over a tenner under the heading advanced payment. I have written to them and they are not replying, will be involving Trading Standards. The fact there is only one form of delivery which is weird speaks volumes ! Cold for me.

I have this, great bit of kit. Heat added.

I've got one of these and for the price it's a great buy, can't remember what I paid, probably only slightly more but this still tempts me to buy another.

In response to Blackgang and the issue of DHL charging at customs all I can say is that a modicum of reading around the topic of buying higher value items from Gearbest would reveal that there is indeed a high chance of being hit by duty when you use that service. Gearbest typically offers a range of Postal options (not just DHL) ranging in price, speed, and level of tracking. I've had two phones delivered in good time just using a Netherlands post option that was available at checkout.

Hi Falchion76 I am aware of Customs duty and paid it, what I am talking about is an additional charge £10+ simply named "advanced payment". Maybe the reading should have been done by you, and maybe you can explain why only one postal option is offered on this deal?????? Just to be clear all goods regardless of value are possible subject to import taxes and everything liable to VAT @ 20%

I have purchased a few things from both bangood and Gearbest, but no more than £20 for any item, and never had a problem. I can only assume this issue relates to the value of your order and what delivery option you chose. Good luck with your claim, hope you get it sorted.

I have purchased this exact set a few weeks ago from gearbest, and I must say the quality is to notch . I'll be honest and say that I most probably wont use half of the heads but there is a wide range for all needs

According to UK governor web site,
Customs Duty
You'll be charged Customs Duty on gifts and other goods sent from outside the EU if they're above a certain value.

The value includes: the price paid for the goods, postage, packaging and insurance
Type and value of goods Customs Duty
1. Anything under £135 No charge
2. Gifts worth £135-£630 2.5%, but rates are lower for some goods
3. Gifts above £630 and other goods above £135 The rate depends on the type of goods and where they came from.

To be fair, I think that's not the responsibility of the seller. Every UK buyer who purchase items from oversea must aware of this issue, if you don't want to pay the tax, let's send letter to UK governor to lower or free the Customs Duty.

rdann I also have go low value items unregistered with no problems, the reason I highlighted this was only registered air delivery being offered and not knowing the courier, being registered it is detailed on the manifest which has to be given to HMRC. To be fair for me Bestgear are not the real issue DHL (another German scam) are, here's hoping they are not involved in this deal.

It's a good screwdriver set.
Took me ages working out how to get the screwdriver bits out and then putting them back.

Isn't this a duplicate of a recent post?
I will post again what I said, have fun trying to figure out how to get the bits back into the spring coil after use!

A rookie mistake. DHL do all customs clearance themselves and collect the cash and pay to HMRC - so they charge you the fee plus VAT plus an admin fee. You also pay for the delivery charge. The Chinese sellers are reluctant to/can't declare lower values on DHL packages. By choosing standard shipping more often than not you don't get charged (although not guaranteed). In the many shipments I've had from Japan and China only two have ever been stopped - one from Amazon (before they charged import taxes up front) and one a gift from a relative which she'd declared at a ridiculously high price (this was refunded by HMRC).

I haven't had any dealings with Bestgear. Are they a DHL company?

Code not working anymore

The heads will tear on these, just not worth it, can cause more trouble than they're worth and we know that's not a lot.

Where does everyone keep finding these Gearbest discount codes?
Is there a website that posts these or are these codes emailed to account holders?

OP? :P
Thanks

This is always the case for any item that incurs a VAT charge at customs.

It always has been and it always will be.

The advance payment charge varies from courier to courier but it's usually between £8-£13.

Very surprised you weren't aware of this tbh as it does come up in most gearbest/banggood threads if the item is priced over £15 (therefore possibly incurring a VAT charge).

It used to be the case that a lot of items got through customs but these days higher priced items - such as phones - usually don't.

It's the buyers responsibility to understand customs charges. These are both VAT AND what couriers are legally allowed to charge if they choose to pay this upfront for the customer (which is standard practice).

But hey... now you know right?
