Waitrose is offering 25% off all its table, fortified and sparkling wines from today until the 28th June. You need to buy at least six bottles of any wine, either in store or on-line, to benefit from the discount.

These are 20 of my favourites from the supermarket's recent press tasting.

2010 Viña Costeira Ribeiro (£7.99 down to £5.99, 11.5%)
A Galician white blend that combines five local grapes in a lip-smacking cuvée, showing pears, a hint of tropical fruit, some lime and a chalky, dry finish.

89 points

2010 Domaine Félines Picpoul de Pinet (£7.99 down to £5.99 13.5%)
Sourced from one of the best producers in this southern French appellation, this is a delicious seafood white: fresh, yet textured, with real zip and concentration.
89 points

2010 Charte d'Assemblage Blanc, IGP Côtes de Gascogne (£7.99 down to £5.99, 12%)
The raw material is comparatively unpromising here -- Colombard and Ugni Blanc -- but this is delicious, with gooseberry and kiwi fruit notes.
89 points

2010 Chapel Down Bacchus, Kent (£10.49 down to £8.24, 11.5%)
A textbook example of this Silvaner x Riesling crossing, this is sappy, nettley and zesty with flavours of pear and grapefruit zest. Quintessentially English.
89 points

2010 Dr Loosen Urziger Würzgarten Riesling Kabinett (£13.99 down to £10.49, 7.6%)
Medium sweet Mosel Riesling at its juiciest and most aromatic, this is still young and will develop further, petrolly complexity with age. Deliciously light.

91 points

2010 Bründlmayer Berg-Vogelsang Grüner Veltliner, Kamptal (£15.99 down to £11.99, 12.5%)
Mid-priced Grüner doesn't get much better than this example from the Kamptal hills. Spicy and intense, with green apple and stony, refreshing minerality.
92 points

2009 Domaine Gérard Thomas Saint Aubin Premier Cru Les Combes (£19.99 down to £14.99, 13%)
The white Burgundies from cooler appellations really shone in 2009. And this is a steal at £15: balanced, oat-mealy, understated and subtly oaked.

93 points

2008 Mayu Selected Vineyards Syrah, Elqui Valley (£9.49 down to £7.12, 14%)
The Pacific-cooled Elqui Valley makes some of the best value Syrah in the world right now. Elegant, peppery and savoury, with a meaty undertone.

92 points

2010 Balthazar Syrah, IGP Pays d'Oc (£10.99 down to £8.24, 13.5%)
Neffies (who make this wine) produce one of the best Syrahs in the Languedoc: blackberry, liquorice and smoky tapenade with supple texture and great length.
93 points

2009 Paolo Leo Primitivo di Manduria (£9.99 down to £7.49, 14.5%)
Essence of Primitivo/Zinfandel from Italy's boot-heel, this is savoury, plummy and stylishly oaked with flavours of chocolate, sweet spice and black tea.
90 points

2009 Waitrose Douro Valley Reserva Quinta de la Rosa (£10.69 down to £8.02, 14.5%)
A comparatively approachable Douro red, using old vines to great effect: supple, aromatic, packed with plum and bramble fruit, but with some backbone too.
89 points

2008 Rustenberg John X Merriman, Stellenbosch (£12.49 down to £9.37, 14.5%)
One of the Cape's best Bordeaux blends for less than £10? Yes, please. A very serious, age-worthy red with bags of concentration, cassis and vanilla spice.
92 points

2007 Joseph Drouhin Chorey-Lès-Beaune (£14.99 down to £11.24, 13%)
2007 is often overlooked in Burgundy, but the best reds are drinking really well right now. Savoury, sweet and elegant, with gentle cherry and strawberry fruit.
91 points

2007 Domaine Font de Michelle, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (£25.99 down to £19.49, 14%)

The Gonnet brothers make some of my favorite Châteauneufs. This Grenache-based blend is peppery, spicy and full-bodied with a sweet core of fruit.

92 points

2010 Gran López Tempranillo Rosado, La Mancha (£4.99 down to £3.74, 12.5%)
The sort of rosé you want to buy by the case and drink all summer long, especially at this price. Juicy raspberry fruit is balanced by tangy acidity.
87 points

2010 Laurent Miquel Vendanges Nocturnes Cinsault/Syrah Rosé, IGP Pays d'Oc (£8.29 down to £6.22, 12.5%)
A typically brilliant Provence style Cinsault/Syrah blend from Laurent Miquel, picked at night for extra freshness and perfume. Light, delicate and very fine.
89 points

Waitrose Cava Brut (£6.99 down to £5.24, 11.5%)
I defy you to find a better £5 fizz than this on the market right now. Dry, peppery and pleasantly frothy, it's incredibly easy to drink.

86 points

Cuvée Royale Brut, Crémant de Limoux (£9.99 down to £7.49, 12.35%)
Limoux makes some of France's best sparkling wines, typified by this complex, creamy, palate-tingling blend of Chardonnay with 30% Chenin Blanc.
89 points

Waitrose Blanc de Noirs Brut Champagne (£18.99 down to £14.24, 12.2%)
Impossible to beat from a supermarket under £15, this own-label Pinot Noir is rich and flavoursome with notes of red fruits and toasty, reserve wine depth.
90 points

2004 Waitrose Brut Special Reserve Vintage Champagne, P&C Heidsieck (£29.99 down to £22.49 12%)

Régis Camus is a genius of a winemaker. This pure Chardonnay fizz is nutty, complex and beautifully poised with citrus and white pepper on the finish.

Just give me half a bottle of Blue Nun, please!

For the poorer wine drinker, the Eva's Vineyard white & rose are normally £3.99, so £3 with this offer. There is a red, but I wouldn't recommend it personally. Spend over £50 and they deliver free.
