Heat for the deal but...

I used to buy a lot of MW gear. I do quite a bit of outdoor activities and was in the forces. Prior to 2010 they had some good gear at good prices. I am not a gear snob.

Now it is cheap, replaceable rubbish.

Be under no illusions, it is trash gear. Read their wikipedia page. They were bought by an SA company famed for selling cheap, disposable clothing and they cut all of the high-quality technical items from the stock. They also moved to a more jumble-sale approach to stores.

So buy at your peril. A few washes are enough to fray the stitching and rip clothes. It is not good quality at all particularly the zips.

- Bodywarmers are prone to broke zips and ripped pockets
- The climacool wicking t shirts often end up with tears and seam damage just from a washing machine

I am sure people have a few items they cherish but ask when they were purchased.

Edit to add: If you truly want cheap gear, especially for kids then get over to Decathalon. Their prices are insanely low for decent, durable equipment. If it is snow gear you need cheaply then check Aldi. All three of my kids wear outdoors gear from Wedze/Aldi and it lasts.

They always do sale and I can say the quality of their products and the customer service are very bad. I do not recommend them.
Just look at the trust pilot reviews.

Kids jackets I was looking at the other day have gone from £24.99 to £49.99. That's one thing I have noticed with Mountain Warehouse is how their prices yoyo.
Decent savings to be had with the discount code, thanks for posting OP
This company is like trespass, everything is always on (sale) with stupid original price tags.... Then the price is increased when there is offers going. Descent products yes but rather spend in craghoppers.

A family member who should know better bought an "expensive" jacket from them the other week.

It didn't last a week & tore through in a cold snowing altitude environment.

The person in question was a mug, don't be like them!

Hollister do exactly the same thing
This brand should be banned from here and anywhere on earth.

This company is shockingly bad, I still haven't had my refund for the order they cancelled due to a "technical glitch" on their website back in early December. Email said within 5 days, they've ignored my emails and haven't even responded through PayPal.
I am happy with them. Bought kids jackets before and lasted long time. I got one for myself and well happy. I guess it depends what are you exactly buying. I have no complaints

Probably you have never used higher quality outdoor brands before otherwise you wouldn't have said that.
If someone wants good price and good quality go to sportpurshuit website. Always sale and much better reliable brands, perfect customer service.

Never had any issue with them either, but the jackets I have bought were for normal day to day use.

The company doesn't allow the website to be used unless you sign-up :O Who in this age of competition wants to lose a customer. The need to learn.

Well nobody is holding a gun against your head to sign up mate.
If you do not want to give your email address to see the amazing deals, do not give. Your choice.
Anyway if you do not trust the website give a temporary email. But if you decide to order, you still need to use real details.

You seem very passionate about the site. Do you own it?

What I mention is merely on my observation in this industry.

The jackets I bought were for school and daily use. They were warm, no zip problems and no stitching problem either.
My jacket was originally £65 and I got it around £25 in a sale. It's waterproof too. With a hood.
I'm not a snob and neither can I pay £200 for adult jacket. And if I could, I would not. So I'm happy with their stuff.

What do you mean sign up? I ordered without a registered account.

He is talking about sportpursuit where you have to sign up even to see their website properly. I signed up and have been glad I did. Some good prices if you order enough to make the delivery charge worth it.

The problem is how they advertise the products. For example I have ordered a down jacket because in the description it said tested in minus 30... guess what, I felt cold in 5 degrees Celsius. Minus 30 means you can take it to climb a mountain...but it turned out it was not enough for a normal UK autumn weather.
The highest waterproof jacket they have is good for 10,000mm (if you do not know what is that Google it). That is not going to keep you dry in a heavy rain. And in their website they say that is highly waterproof. That is not true.
You need 20.000mm in the UK and you are definitely going to be dry under the jacket. Over 20.000mm everything is highly waterproof.

Not quite true. He sold 20% of the business to a private equity fund but it's still majority owned and controlled by the original founder and owner.

thisismoney.co.uk/mon…tml

I've found the quality to be completely random though. My son has been wearing a pair of MW lined trousers, hiking 5 to 10 miles a week for four years and they're still in A1 condition and have grown with him.

He has another pair of MW zip off trousers that got shredded first time he took a tumble and are made of the most flimsy material imaginable.
Then two different waterproof over trousers, one excellent and has taken over 2 years abuse, the other pair useless.

It's a lottery buying online with no free postage or returns but if you can get to a shop they still sell some stuff that's worth having. You really need to see it in the flesh before buying though.

I see. That I could not possibly comment but I do trust you. I never needed clothing for mountain climbing or any other extreme weather conditions. And in that case it's really bad if they lie about it.
