Introduced in
1952, Ray-Ban's black Wayfarer sunglasses are truly iconic. Next to
Ray-Ban 3025 Aviator, it became arguably the most recognisable frame on
the planet. These boast the very same specifications as the original
model too. 2140 Wayfarer's chunky acetate frame flatters most face
shapes. Here tapered arms carry the Ray-Ban signature (as does a single
lens). Retro pin hinges also feature. UV400 mineral glass lenses.
Ray-Ban sunglasses come with a two year warranty.

Nothing but social conditioning associated with some name. Made in same factories as 5 pounds ones. Especially as almost all big brands are owned by a single company, they can charge whatever they want

Any suggestions on decent quality alternative without breaking the bank ... I've seen a few unknown brands on amazon but not impressed

Agree in part. While made in the same factory, using entirely different materials/components, social conditioning association is a factor.

Try Hawkers. They often have decent deals and they are vg for the price
Wouldn't buy sunglasses online too many fakes
Do they do prescriptions?
Good price but ridiculous that one pair is £170 and the same pair in another colour is £88? makes no sense haha. only sizes left seem to be 50 and some have 54 as well.
Rayban are excellent quality. How many pairs of £15 supermarket sunglasses do you have to go through, before buying a £60 pair of raybans which will last a lifetime. They just dont break.

Luxottica own Ray Ban and Oakley and manufacture 80 percent of all spectacles and sunglasses made. They also own sunglass hut and the top 3 US opticians. Want Tom Ford? Made by Lux, almost all named brands are.

Amazingly never investigated by EU monopolies commission. If that level of control and price fixing was committed by Microsoft or Google, they would be fined millions.
My now ex in law manufactures "designer"spectacle frames.Sells them direct to opticians for less than £5 including a case.
Opticians sell them at £100+
I dont see Rayban being of higher quality or value.
I would rather, and do, buy sunglasses from Aldi, good quality Polaroids for less then a fiver and replace them every year
