My sister hires this machine every so often to do the cream upstairs carpets in her house - it's incredible how much dirt this machine removes and how clean it leaves your carpets, so much better than any other machine.

Great machine

Top tip

don't but there chemicals buy 5L of no nonsense carpet cleaner from screwfix for about £11 lasts for ages and use next time you hire machine

Rented it last week done a excellent job, also bought the car seats up splendidly well. i used this 5 litre shampoo

cleanstore.co.uk/pro…asp?ID=252

£16.40 delivered and works great

I saw the anti foam for 50p in B&Q, just for info.

Does it leave the carpet wet?

Nope, even my very thick carpet was dry in 30mins

Cool, thanks. Do you think I could clean the mattress with it as well?

It comes with a nozzle attachment like a Hoover so you can do all sorts with it. It would work well for a mattress in my opinion!

does it pick aything up?

If you went to a VAX after RugDoctor, you're doing it all wrong.

Go on then throw some light....wasnt I holding right or cueing right.....Its £9.98 1 litre fluid from b&q anyway.

Do u have to pay anything upfront like a deposit or jus the 17.25?? It's a first time to rent one? Thanks

Fantastic. Been looking to rent one of these for my rug. quick question if anyone can help, it is literally just a rug I need to clean, I have wood floor throughout so is there some solution I can buy cheaply just to do this rug? Thanks v much.

A few points:

Cheap carpet cleaning detergent isn't as good as expensive stuff. If you have a cleaning supplies company check out their products and ask advice. B&Q/Screwfix products aren't a patch on pro-products.

If you use a cheap detergent and the machine becomes damaged by excessive foaming, they will charge you with the cost of repairs. This can amount to a few hundred pounds if you damage a vacuum motor..

Instead of buying de-foamer, buy ordinary bars of bath soap. Mix about a quarter of a bar with hot water and dissolve as much as possible. Add to the waste tank.

Before cleaning the carpet, give it a very thorough vacuum with a decent upright cleaner - it pays dividends. Not only does it remove debris, it lifts the pile of the carpet allowing cleaning solution to penetrate better.

Treat any spots before commencing with a clean - use the appropriate product.

Never use 2001 type products on carpets.

Don't over-wet the carpet.

If you know you have a Wilton carpet, don't attempt to wet clean it - call a professional.

If cleaning a rug, make sure it's not on laminate floor when you do it - the heat/moisture could warp the laminate!

No, you pick it up, take it home, use it for something dirty and filthy until you are satisfied. . . All for £17

no it picks nothing up. You just push it alone the carpet and enjoy the noise..... fmuta

Are these machines OOS often? Don't want to waste the petrol to find its been rented.

Also, apart from carpet cleaner liquid do you need to get anything else for it?

Could you recommend a good cleaning agent? Is Genuine Prochem Fibre & Fabric Rinse Carpet Cleaner Detergent B109-05 any good?

These are truly fantastic machines, versatile also. I've used this to clean the entire carpet in my house which is a cream colour so gets dirty often. The amount of dirt it lifts is staggering. The only annoyance is that you have to refill it quite often - but really that is a small gripe.

Usually the bigger stores like Homebase have around 4 in stock and there is almost always one available.

Worth mentioning that it's not a good idea to put your face under the machine. I learnt this lesson the hard way....

Just out of interest, why would you rug doctor your face?

Although this sounds strange I just wanted to see how powerful the machine was, which as it turns out is very powerful. I was left with several lacerations to my face.

No ones pulling the wool over your eyes. But it left you in a pile on the flood.

As the voucher doesn't state homebase only to be used at!!!

the voucher says end 22 August so can you use it after that?

good deal

doh! Just rented one last weekend and I was looking for a voucher code everywhere.

Got to say it worked really well on my carpets, just very time consuming...

oh and the cleaning fluid was £20 extra

Do you pick this up at store? does it fit in a car easily?

Yes...can come with a hose to clean you sofa as well.

I just use washing machine liquid with these. Cheap, doesn't foam and smells nicer than carpet cleaner.

These machines are a waste of time. Very small suction motors on them. By the time youve gone and got it, left a deposit, hope you dont break it ,do the work yourself and then have to take it back. plus buy all the weaker chemicals your better of getting a professional to come and clean for you

To put things into perspective here a professional carpet cleaner will charge significantly more than hiring one of these machines. I would rather do a few passes with this machine and rent it often, than pay a professional an extortionate amount.

In my opinion whenever I have tried professional carpet cleaning companies they are usually cowboys.

But also just to reiterate, DO NOT pass this over your face.

I hate rugs and carpets. Wooden floor is better.

Guessing this wasnt specifically mentioned in the manual so good warning to all

Why your face and not your hand or something more accessible??

Admire your commitment tho.
