Normally £50~ reduced to £34.99 online... £29.99 in store, seen it at PC World Hayes and Currys Uxbridge today.

Bought 2, easy upgrade to USB 3.0, the hard drive is basically a 2.5" drive in a case with a sata docking adaptor, works with other drives too so quite nice.

Very true although PC world have improved ,Currys still make me crap.

unlike most PC world "offers", this should have plenty of stock.... bought one of these from PC world tottenham court road/warren st yesterday and they had a good few in stock.

Agreed, it's not a ?.?7 price like the clearance stuff. Should be reasonably widespread.

A great deal for people who want a decent-sized external HDD without a picture of Michael Jackson on it. Heat added.

I do like these offers that come up now and again on 2.5 drives, Its great how folk dont see its cheaper to buy this, strip it, drop the drive in your lappy and wow cheap upgrade, then drop your old drive in the caddy, Cheaper doing this than just buying a replacment drive for you laptop

I must have done around 12 now but using the WD 500gig ones.

Hmm, really, cheaper ? Maybe in this exact instance, but once you start getting a bit larger you can get a 320GB internal for about £36 and a 500GB for £46, which I think is cheaper than any external version...

cheaper than that about atm too
thing is if want to use old laptop drive then will need to factor in price of caddy too

oops

Good price but have had some unpleasant dealings with this retailer!

thats true but obviously doing this will void your warranty but defo ok if your not bothered about that

But it's not true.

axum

But it's not true.

but it is true, external drives seem to get reduced more harshly than bare internal ones. seen quite a few times in the past external drives at lower points than the internal and thats without even factoring a caddy cost.
eg play sale, tesco instore and many more most likely
atm it seems bare drives are staying quite low though

As i said, for this exact drive, then yes, I can't seem to find one for less than £30, although you can obviously choose the make/model of your internal drive (e.g. £31 for a quality WD Blue one). But for only £6 more you can get 60 more GB. Plus i've never seen an external 500GB being sold for £46 or less, which is the price you can get an internal at, so no, not true.

I'd partly agree for 3.5inch drives (but even then there have been some great internal deals which have worked out cheaper than the cheapest external drive i've seen), not for 2.5....

oh well it must be not true because you say so and dont bother listening to people or thinking about if caddy is needed etc
external 500gb 2.5inch 42.83 hotukdeals.com/dea…771 cheaper than your 46quid but perhaps it didn't exist because you didn't know about it?
many deals in past similar and better than this also

so er yes true. atm its difficult but prices always fluctuate and just because you don;t know something doesn't mean it didn;t happen or that everyone is a liar

btw this thread is spam was posted 2 days ago

That drive is now £58 - and when it was £42, how much is a caddy ? More than £4 i would have thought.

Also, my quoted £46 was without me doing any form of in-depth searching, you can get 500GB 2.5 internals cheaper than that (£41 with a quick search), so, i'm afraid, still not true
:-P

This is just a duplicate, as I posted this deal of a few days back:

so because you cant do something right now means that it could never be done in the past?
no. so you are wrong.
btw the cost of the caddy needs to be factored onto the bare drive price not the external duh

i am not gonna post any more on this as i am, not sure you are genuinely as stupid and pigheaded as you appear so its a waste of my time arguing with someone trying to not get it.

Hello!

I know it's a long shot, but by any chance do you still have one of those Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 250GB drives that you bought 5 years ago? I can't find one anywhere and the heads on mine broke (it fell down the stairs). It contains all of the pictures and videos I have of my late son who died 3 years ago at age 6 and I need to transfer the disk to a working, identical drive in order to recover the data. I would be happy to pay the full price that you paid (for both if available in case one doesn't work) in order to rescue the data... The irony being that I was literally on my way to back up the drive when it fell down the stairs.
Thank you!

Doug, I've edited out your email address.
Can I suggest that you contact PC World directly and ask them as they will not monitor this thread (we aren't connected to PC World)

Thanks for your reply.
I did that first. It's out of production. I have contacted all of the retailers I could find and no one has one. From your original post it sounds like you'd purchased 2 of them and as they are now old tech I had hoped that you might have upgraded and still had them kicking around in a drawer somewhere. I need the identical drive to transfer the disks. They make a 320GB with identical enclosure but I'm told by Seagate that it wouldn't work... I take it that you don't have them anymore?
Thanks,
Doug
