I don't think these are microsoft certified, but are a fraction of the price of the price of them. Would make a welcome addition to the xbox arcade owners etc.

What do you mean disable, make them unusable.:?

I think Micrsoft disabled all Xbox live users who have modified their consoles

cant use third party memory cards/hdd's

"People freaked but Microsoft clearly said the Memory ban was for Memory cards, not the HDD."

So you might be buying a brick or paper weight.

no doubt the western digital sata's used in these are refurbs etc. prob be doa or won't last as long and shipped from hk, prob be bashed about in the post..

Yeah MS have locked out 3rd party memory cards so might lock these out aswell at some stage

might, but if papa or mama bought one of these from a car boot sale / e bay and have not modified the actually console in anyway like those poor sods that got banned, expect ms to get bent over in the courts, if such devices get blocked or users get banned.

+1

Just a recommendation anyone looking for a cheap hdd for an Arcade, buying an official used one from CEX is probably a better deal £55 gets you a proper MS hard drive with 12 months warranty.

Gota be worth the extra.

TBH - is it worth the grief if you do get a problem later on?

I have a 250Gb unit, but only since the upgrade was a few quid (got the MW2 ellite), and cant seriously say I use the space.....

look for a cheapo 60 / 120Gb unit, and youll be fine. If you really want extra space for music etc, attach an external drive and format it as FAT32

Received one of these the other day, plugged it in,away it went and no problems yet.
It took a few weeks to arrive but for the money who cares!

I'm tempted as I'm running out of room on my 120 gig hard drive.
