Might have to go for this. Tried Vodafone recently and disappointed with the speed but ive GOT to get away from Three, their coverage is definitely getting worse! Speedtest always says ove got 30-50mb but its nonsense. Any word on O2's speed vs others?

o2 seems to have got worse on 3G let alone 4G since Telefonica circa 2007/8, maybe the financial crisis $lowed down their network as like BT their debts are 50 billion+, I get good signal/coverage yet poor speeds. Generally I find where o2 is Vodafone do better (joint base stations) as Voda has better spectrum bands & seems to plan it better than o2 so I wouldn’t waste your time with o2 and try EE. Saying that sometimes o2 comes up trumps where the others fail.

Three is defo suffering with unlimited sims and people buying good 4G routers that double, triple or quadruple mimo, even their lower 800MHz band 20 are getting hammered with mimo in rural areas as 20 megs is better than BT Openreach (in to you’re pockets).

Defo try o2 & EE, if it doesn’t work you’ve 14 days to send back anything ordered online. Even try a o2 Payg sim first, you can’t do that with EE though as they bar landmass coverage On band 20 from Payg, so try a o2 Payg first ... Everything to gain, nothing to lose!

I edited so re-read^

EE rarely do good prices even before BT owned them lol. As I said try a o2 Payg and if it works it works.

£15-20 wont buy much on EE generally, think 100GB but it’s a 2 year sim only deal, I find that excessive, 18m maybe, but 2 years ??

Edit: Sorry You can get 200gb for £31 18 months that was hidden away 41118602-qpXvL.jpg

Asking for a relative, so not sure what kind of contract at present.

Call and ask o2, they generally don’t ring fence price plans, if they are out their minimum term or near it it should just be a plan change.

Wonder if o2 or any other company will keep the EU roaming options after Brexit. Difficult to commit 18 months currently

It’s standardised, they would lose too many customers if they pulled mid contract, it was EU enforced, it’s not EU/gov enforced to remove it.

Certainly new cheaper price plans like Vodafone Basics may come in to play with all big 4, unlimited mins, texts & 5G £10 a month for giving up roaming for the many would be a winner, it’s affordable because £8 of line rental goes straight to BT to underinvest, take profits & seek gov broadband funding.

The pipes to base stations aren’t underfunded like BT’s wall sockets.

I was on month 9 of my 12 months contract with O2 and I just upgraded today. O2 are quite flexible, you can change your contract after 3 months.

Did the upgrade over Live Chat, though it's not that easy to get to Live Chat nowadays. You have to wait for the pop-up screen to appear.

Got it for £14/month for the next 18 months as I was offered £1/month discount, so your relative should try and haggle as well.

Worth mentioning this is 5G as well if you have in your area.

Thanks, she is finding this the biggest hurdle, she is in a mid-70s, so not surprising. I've texted her all the necessary questions & statements for her to ask/tell the chat person in order to get this or a better deal.

Has she registered a online account ?
it may be available as a plan change in there.

Maybe now she has to register for ‘my o2’ account, give you the login in details and you have a look at price plans available to move to, hopefully you can do it this way as care humans are in short supply just now.

No, she can barely open a browser window, let alone do much else!
Thanks, I will try to text or talk her through it, but she has only a phone & no other device.
