25kg Cement now £1 at B&Q (instore only)

Just been to B&Q and noticed they had reduced their 25kg bags of cement to £1. They are stated as out of date.

People will shout "store specific", and they may be right, but on the assumption that my local had these delivered, with the same use by date, in bulk at the same time as numerous other B&Qs then I'm guessing there's a fair chance they will be available elsewhere.

Anyway, all I'm doing is highlighting the fact that there may be £1 bags of cement out there so just a heads up that if you need some, it may be worth popping into B&Q to have a look.

Found in Crawley store.

Was the packet labelled "Best Before" or "Use By"?

I find the latter tastes a little stale.

And for those people whose local store may be the same as yours, which store did you find this cement in?

Cement to be in B&Q but the price isn't set in concrete.

Sorry - in Crawley store.

I was tempted to buy a load myself (they had probably 60 or 70 bags on view, maybe more in the storeroom) as I'm shortly building a large workshop and need it for the base, but as I'm notoriously slow at getting things started I decided I had nowhere to store them under cover so didn't buy any. They're cheap if you're going to use them quickly, but not cheap if they end up as great big heavy lumps of concrete still in their bags!

Excellent - this will go in the garage nicely with my 2 bikes and some smokeless fuel.

Now to find a cheap shovel...

If it's out of date then it'll need using quickly.

Out of date cement goes hard and becomes unusable. Only buy if you've got an immediate use.

Just a very personal opinion, but I have an issue with B&Q storing their cement and other dry products outside in their builders' yard area, even allowing for the fact that it is (sort of) under a roof. If you look at many of the comments made by other buyers, you will find a trend that many say the stuff has gone off even before expiry. Whereas Wickes stores their stuff inside their store which is better weather-sealed and better temperature and humidity-controlled, at least during trade hours.

Frankly, if B&Q are selling this stuff off at £1.00 per bag, they are effectively looking for mugs who want to be parted from their money, even if it is only to the tune of a pound-a-pop. Otherwise, nice if you like 25kg cement stones.

Sometimes an offer truly is too good to be true.

Perfect if you're doing the oversight on a house

Not all stores wiki have this. It only happens when they haven't sold as many as predicted and need to clear the stock to enable good stock to come in.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Expect your house to fall down at the slighted breeze!

As long as you store these off the floor ie on a insulation board you will be fine for a few months. Iv just bought a pallet . Just keep dry and off the floor and everything will be ok
