24GB of RAM!?

Think its meant to be 4gb

wow not bad for a basic 17" laptop.... sure it won't set the world on fire but it's fine for everyday tasks. Battery probably won't last too long as it's a 4 cell and sadly no upgrade option there.

If you prefer to buy it at Dell Home rather than Dell Small business then simply goto Dell Home, enter the code SBNS3701 into the search box and it gives the same deal without having to enter a business name (which can be 'Home User' anyway) - sometimes this doesn't give the same prices but in this case it does and all prices are shown including VAT.

Try this: search.euro.dell.com/res…all

Code seems to only work only if buying via Dell Home and code might expire 29th (but you never know with Dell)

OP or Mod can you change the title to show this lower price of £279.89 please?

6% Quidco cashback on Inspirons

£278 confimed and 6% via Quidco (didn't look at TCB)
quidco.com/del…?ac

Fantastic price and extremely powerful for nearly general office work , social networking, email, browsing. It sets the general world on fire with this price performance and usability. Great to use in home office as it is 17" and it is the pro edition Windows which means advanced security and other advanced features that get work done. I am using its older model the Inspiron Studio 1735 model running Vista Home Premium edition and I had paid more money than this £280 from Dell refurbished some 3 years' ago so this is remarkable powerful price performance. Although old I have given it a new lease of life by replacing its hard disk (now used as internal second disk ) by an Intel 80GB SSD.

Only 2.02% on TCB so if Quidco pay out that's another nice bonus (some Quidco feedback suggests some Dell purchases aren't paying out though)

I've had problems with Dell Small business but this is "Dell consumer" and may be more reliable, especially as the Quidco first link "7% off computers + up to 8% cashback" is an official link and code.

Thanks, Bought. Been waiting for a good deal on a 17inch. Signed up for Quidco as well to buy. Roughly how long
does it take them to show the purchase as tracked? Thanks for any replies.

My Quidco's usually track in 24 hours but can take a couple months to pay out.

My pleasure, plus extra bonus for me as my first car was a Manta 1900 (actually a Vauxhall Cavalier 2 door Coupe' which was a Manta)

Nice price for new 17" DELL Laptop

Cheers

Has anybody bought this model before and how did they get on with it? I've researched a bit and there are a lot of complains about this particular model 3721, mainly related to the fan not running properly (e.g. full speed when not needed, etc.). This maybe not a problem with a low cpu like the 2117u.

I got a 3721 from the outlet last week. Very pleased with it. The latest bios A06 is installed and there is no issues with fan control at all.

anyone have experience with this CPU? I take its fine for everyday tasks and full hd playback? hopefully this qualifies for the windows 7 downgrade

If it is only the looks of Win 8 you are concerned with why not just install Classic shell? That's what i have done and it is virtually the same as Windows 7 now.

Looks the fan issue was resolved in BIOS A6 update, to be honest comments are that it's a bit flimsely built but then again it's dirt cheap so something has to give.

Not flimsy at all, i'm working on it right now. Very sturdy and well made.

whats this like for watching movies on?

Good to know, I was only going by some of the reviews on Dell, clearly some people are comparing this to their 15 year old tank built by Dell that probably cost 4 times the price.

thanks for reply I'll order one

Screen is not bad either. You have to be realistic in that the viewing angles are not the best and the blacks are not as good as some other screens, but for the price I think the screen is very good.

The palm rest and the lid are textured which I prefer over smooth plastics, shows a lot less fingerprints. I also have an Inspiron 15R and genuinely prefer the 17 to it.

A few other things you might find useful...

I replaced the hard drive with an SSD. The hard drive it came with is a 7mm one but it can accommodate 9.5mm ones too. The DVD is a 9.5mm high (as opposed to the 12.5mm of a normal laptop) so I bought a slim DVD caddy on ebay into which the 7mm HDD fits perfectly height wise.

I used to hate the keyboards on these cheaper Dell machines too, they used to flex an awful lot when you pressed certain keys. This is not an issue on this machine at all.

What difference is this to my win 7 3yr old inspiron 1750 upgraded to 4gb? I really would like to either speed it up or get a new machine.

Hot deal!

Hot !! ...Thanks for sharing....;)

Cant seem to find it. Is it gone?

Yep £254 now with TP6M7P5R3G$19H
You can try quidco with this too but don't expect it (dell business).

Just going to post the Code 15% off Dell Inspiron laptops TP6M7P5R3G$19H
As Musicrab says £254, just ordered one. Dont need one but cant resist a bargain.
Went through quidco but dont think I will get anything.

OP you might want to change (again) the price which keeps coming down!

Tomorrow maybe it'll be £199 (well probably not really)

Nice one. Ordered for £254. My 7 year old laptop is starting to reach the end of it's life, so this is perfect.

This has 2x USB 3.0 ports and HDMI out. Although only a 4cell battery the processor is fairly low powered and on chip gpu means it will be quite sufficient for most. The latest BIOS solves the loud fan and erratic mouse problems users have reported. As many have said the addition of an SSD drive would make this feel fairly punchy and "classic shell" software would give it a Windows7 feel.

Thicko here, how do I find and purchase via link? sends me to a general page not a direct link.

Going around in circles and getting nowhere fast. HELP oO
