Get in! I've been tracking the prices on Philips wireless surround systems (B5, E5, HTL9100, this etc) for literally 2 years and kicked myself when I missed this at £299.99 over bank holiday, now reduced even further!

Possible 10% Quidco too when getting £3.95 home delivery, to make it a smashing £255.41!

RRP £449.99, ususally £399.99, previous best I have seen £299.99.

HOT!

Heated, well tempting. Anyone with one know how well the detachable speakers work in practice?

Its a cool idea but with them being battery powered i would imagine could be a issue e.g. could they take a days use then charge them overnight or do you have to stop halfway through to dock and charge?

Some reviews say 2hrs.
Are they charged by being docked to the main speakers do you know?

Yes, read a review on trusted reviews that say they are.

Suspected the batteries would be the weakpoint. If it really is only two hours then that would make it an instant no for me. Some films are longer than that!

Cold. Battery life

What alternative is there with a better battery life for a similar price?

Haven't checked thoroughly so apologies if im wrong but id guess there isn't one as to be fair i dont believe they would deliberately offer a poor battery life. However, that doesn't necessarily make this 2 hour battery life good or even acceptable as it barely lets you enjoy a single movie in surround.

The sad fact is batteries suck. Battery development has completely failed to keep pace with the development of other fields like computing power. Batteries just cant hold enough to make systems like this work.

We either need a radical new battery technology, which sadly doesn't seem to exist (or at least be ready for consumer products) or just to give up on having everything wireless and go back to using good old cables for hooking up speakers that dont run out of power every five minutes...

Shame there aren't more reviews or more information. For example is the battery replaceable? Could a higher capacity be added etc.
They should have made it 4.5hrs or so battery life though.
The what hi-fi review gave it 2.5 out of 5 compared to the trusted reviews site of 9 out of 10.

Saying that the what hi-fi review suggests up to 10 hr battery life? Hmmmm

2 hour battery life for the satellite speakers would strike me as very odd - I don't have this model but the E5 one, and the batteries in that model last a lot longer than 2 hours (in fact I don't know how long because I have never run out of battery when using the satellite speakers to watch movies etc., so at least 5 hours).

been told it's 10 hrs wheb I asked in rs

Would rather have a 5.1 setup.

I nearly bit at this price, however (and this is the only downside that I can see in comparison to the more expensive E5) is that it doesn't have any HDMI inputs, only a single HDMI ARC. Kills it for me as I need HDMI passthrough, but good deal if it suits your setup.

What makes these a good buy? I'm seeing their size as the only real advantage.

These are the same price and 5.1 surround as well argos.co.uk/pro…773?rec=webRespPDP:5324860:alt:CWVTPUBOOT:5789773

If you really need battery powered speakers, have a look at the Denon HeOS range.

Otherwise, just buy Sonos.

Buy one of those then.

it's this or Sonos Play:5..hmm

This might sound like a daft question but would I still be able to use my sky remote to control the sound? And will the sound (numbers) be displayed on the TV as I adjust the sound?

Anyone know how these CSS5235Y (F5) perform compared to the more expensive CSS7235Y (E5) ? Look like slightly less connectivity on these and slightly smaller, also not quite so "premium" looking but can't find any reviews of these ones. Bit concerned the satellites don't have as much life.

Just to say I got mine next day from Argos and it sounds AWESOME! Battery life on the satellites seems fine so far but haven't used for hours and hours, will update when I do.

Hi - can I just ask - with your new Philips Speakers. Can you adjust the volume on the speakers using your TV/ sky remote and does it show up on the TV what the volume is?

Hi, nice find can each wireless speaker used as a portable bluetooth speaker?

You can bluetooth to it and then pop the wireless speakers wherever you want (great for a house party for example) bit I don't think you can Bluetooth just to the wireless satellites

I don't own this but extremely unlikely I'd say as usually all the 'brains' of the system are in the sound bar itself and the other speakers are just dumb receivers...

Hi - what are your thoughts now you've had it a couple of days. I'm seriously tempted to grab one of these.

Honestly it's awesome, exactly what I expected and wanted. Sounds great, so cool to have surround without wires everwhere (I rent so can't go putting wires in the wall or under carpets) and it's so cool being able to take a satellite speaker with you! Eg. Was watching the footie, just carried the speaker with me while I went to make a sandwich and can still hear everything. Just check the spec to make sure it's right for you.

Did you get a chance to test out the battery life of the wireless speakers?
