Looks like both Scan and AO have taken £50 off this 4k monitor from Acer. It's TN but still seems good value for money, especially if buying more than one!

I would only go for TN if you want high refresh rate for gaming.
You could get va or ips panel for maybe £50 more.
why are 4k monitors loads less than 1440p ones?
Nice monitors

Also a good port selection is good but not essential, so HDMI, DisplayPort, with VGA/DVI and USB-C being added older/modern bonuses. HDMI and USB-C are the ports I've seen the most on laptops which can be used to add an additional display.

Additionally a couple of USB ports helps if working in a secure environment as plugging in say a charging cable for your phone into the pc itself would be a risk but using a USB port on the monitor would be ok.

What would you recommend for office work/photoshop (not bothered about gaming)? Would prefer USB-C as have a macbook pro (personal) and lenovo T-series (work). Better to go down the IPS route over VGA? QHD v 4k? Thanks
I’ve had this this monitor for about 4 months now, it’s a decent enough display but with no frills. The built in speakers are poor like on most monitors, the headphone jack on mine broke after 2 weeks but cba sending the display back. Tempted to wait closer to the year warranty date then do it.

I’ve been able to play a fair amount of games at 4K with HDR enabled. Bare in mind though this is not a gaming monitor it’s 60hz and a TN panel. Out of the box the colours are shocking, It took me a good 40 min or so to get an acceptable picture. Then a few days of on and off further tweaks. Quite happy with the results now though.

With this been a TN panel unless you’re looking at the monitor directly in front of you (not at an angle/to the side in a duel screen setup) the screen viewing will be poor and have dark spots. If this is an issue look for an IPS display.

IPS has colours that pop more but VA have deeper blacks. 4k will give you more detail that 1440 and allow more content on screen due to it appearing smaller, but whether that sharpness is noticeable on a 27" is up for debate/depends on the person viewing.

I'm not sure whats best for photo editing work, but I reckon you'd want a bright display like 400nits+? Maybe even try a VA panel for blacks being better. You'll likely get what you pay for. There's probably other members out there who can give you more accurate info for your use case.

Under no circumstances settle for anything less than 1440p, TN panel is your enemy, standard 60hz is fine no need for higher
