In director Danny Boyle's ground breaking take on zombie horror, 28 Days Later, a deadly 'rage' virus transforms the world into a seemingly desolate wasteland. A handful of determined survivors attempt to salvage a future- unaware that the worst is yet to come...
In the heart-stopping sequel, 28 weeks later, the U.S. army steps in to help repatriate Mainland Britain after the rage virus has finally been eliminated. But one of the returning refugees carries a terrible secret that threatens to reignite the deadly explosion of bloodlust, carnage and chaos.

Got this and the Night-watch / Day-watch double-pack for £22 off DVD.co.uk a year or so back.

Be warned that the 28 Days Later transfer is pretty horrid - SD upscaled.

Yes, but it is as good as it's ever going to be. That is how it was filmed. The director deliberately made it that way to give the film a gritty, grimey feel. So it is a perfect transfer of the original source. It looks as good as it did in the cinema.

The DVD box set is £5.85, and will look exactly the same, why bother paying double for the BR version?

In any case, the BR box set has been on offer for £7 in the past (I bought it, and compared against a friends DVD version, and I couldn't tell the difference), again making this not such a great deal.

Pointless and cold.

Well you are right for the start of the first film. I think the difference between DVD and Blu-Ray will not be noticed by most people unless they have a huge screen.

However the final part of the first film and most of the second were shot on 35mm film and do look a lot better on the blu-ray than the DVD.

It was not an ugly transfer. It was a really good transfer of an ugly film.
