Good if you want a cheap meal, shame they are **** though, Wetherspoons have a bad rep, once I bought the fish and chips the fish was hard and dry, the peas cold, the chips cold and burnt.

I know some kitchen staff at my old towns one and they said all the food is vacumn packed and even they said it was ****.

I have had fish & chips at 3 different wetherspoons and have no complaints

I think you might need a voucher for this, because i got a leaflet in the post saying that you need to use the voucher.

my mates a catering manager for them, it is all vac pac, even the mashed spud, most of the foood gets prepped and cooked at a central location, then vac sealed and shipped out to the pubs, its not uncommon.

good late lunch/early tea for £2.99 all the same.

Hmmmm, my nearest Weatherspoons usually has at least one "can you help" yellow police sign outside it, hence I've never been in there but then it's a good 4 miles away which still isn't far enough in my opinion.

It depends of the chef.

Went wetherspoons yesterday and in my local (Hanley Stoke) for this offer the times were between 2-5pm.

Ie the microwave they have

I used to go all the time at uni, tend to avoid the food there these days.

Not wanting to over-generalise, but is this offer aimed at builders and sparkies, or what?? They all clock off after lunch on a Friday...

I think its really good for the price, you cant expect gormet food for £2.99!!

I prefer the burger, chips and a pint for a fiver (personally)

I got a flier through the door with loads of offers and coupons for cheap beer/wine/food.
I had also registered with wetherspoons and got one sent to me personally.
I know the food is chilled and just heated up, but the steaks are ok and the curries are decent enough. If you just want a couple of pints and a curry before the cinema or at lunch time, it's fine. If you want a chef made meal at 3/4 times the price that's your choice but I'd say Wetherspoons is a no nonsence eating place with hot prices and even hotter prices with vouchers. Curries are hot too but that's a different heat. I've warmed up the OP as well. Good spot

You need a nice hot cup of tea after eating fish & chips with your chip butty sarnie to wash down the grease!

I got a leaflet thru my door today detailing the same offer along with others. Personally I am not a Wetherspoon sort of gal but there coffee aint too bad if u can put up with the day time alcoholics.

Would have to agree, sell it cheap alcohol and food and sadly no character..the traditional British pub is sadly dying thanks to these pub "chains" like the MCDonalds of drinking, surprised they dont have a sign outside when you leave "Have a nice day", or go inside and order a drink "Would you like a meal with that sir, care to upgrade to king size litre"

i used to work at wetherspoons. Some of the food is vaccum packed + some isn't.

All the steaks are cooked properly and both the fish and chips are fried from frozen (at least they were 2 years ago)

The bread believe it or not is fresh, unless they are using some special crapy bread for this offer.

You to could waste your existence and have a **** meal for the cheap price of £3. You get what you pay for especially when it comes to food.

I love spending quality time amongst alcoholics that smell of urine and talk tripe. :-D

:whistling: So you'll be feeling right at home here then

A bar in town serves meals for £3, well things like burger chips and side salad, or baked potatoe with cheese and beans, or for £4 Scampi and chips and salad, lasagne chips and salad.

All with choice of a pint of Fosters, glass of wine etc.

And students get £1 off so I get the chicken burger, chips and salad and a pint for £2! quality, and its far better food than wetherspoons

Yep, registered online and the vouchers arrived after a few weeks. I assume you just go on a mailing list, and next time they are doing a promo you are included.
But I also got a flyer hand delivered with the usual sky offer/new kitchen offer etc.
Just lucky I suppose but we now have a good supply of cheap offers valid till June. Goes well with cheap travelodge stays!

just about to post this lol!

Just got back, Surf and turf was excellent

so dont u need a voucher and is this at all of the pubs

theres signs all over my local advertising it.
So I think you just ask for it at the bar

You don`t need a voucher ------------- big six foot notice just inside pub door advertising it.
Excellent value at £2-99 for either cod, plaice or haddock with chips and peas plus bread and butter and a choice of tea or coffee.

If thats not a bargain go and have a soggy Big Mac

They are re-heated frozen fish & chips. Last time I ordered it, it was still frozen inside.
I think it's best to buy from a proper fish n chips shop
