Updated the op to show what you have to trade in.

Seems a big backwards step handing over £20 and your 3DS XL for one of these i'm afraid.

For those wondering:
£19.99 when you trade in a 3DS XL
£39.99 when you trade in a 3DS
£54.99 when you trade in a DSi XL
£69.99 when you trade in a DSi

Nintendo's been on the Sake again...

Why would you trade in a 3DS for this abomination?

That's ridiculous. Why would you want to trade in a 3DS that can play the games in 3D for a 2DS that does exactly the same except not play them in 3D, and look uglier, and be less portable considering it can't be folded...

It's a good idea by Nintendo to allow people to play the 3DS games cheaper, but Game are having a laugh if they think people will trade the 3DS in for one.

Why would you trade in a 3DS for this abomination?

It's the next new thing, I'm sure some people will just to get one.

Save your £20 and buy a game instead!

This is stupid...

Is this a joke?

Is this a joke?

No, but it's funny though

You're paying for a downgrade!

Exactly right. If anyone was silly enough to do this anyway they should just get game to beat cex trade price and get either £109 or £111 depending on what xl you trade in so ya get it for either a quid or free.
But still not worth trading in a 3ds xl for this ugly piece of plastic

You're paying for a downgrade!

Don't see the point of this and the price seems ridiculous... Oh we'll each to their own.

it's a new device and I'm sure the Nintendo fanboys will snap one up.

Awful design.

....
I dont think 'fanboys' are going to trade in their higher featured device (that does everything the same elsewise) for one aimed at young kids >.>

LOL - a bit like the Wii Mini - a backward step in technology, but you are paying for it !

Why the hell would you trade down?!

Looking at the specs for this I'd expect to get the 2DS and money to swap for this inferior model, no 3D, and doesn't fold. They have all that extra space to play about with and once again fail to add a second analogue slider, what kind of monstrosity will this look like when you have to buy the inevitable second analogue slider add-on?

Someone needs to bash some heads at Nintendo's R&D department, they are going from one bad idea to a next recently, I miss the Nintendo that made changes because they were for the better not this Nintendo that make changes to cut costs and remove features that should be standard. Atleast this isn't as bad of a idea than the fugly Wii Mini.

Apparently it's aimed at children who can't use the 3D feature of the 3DS, even though you can turn that off and deactivate it with parental controls. Genuinely looks terrible though.

The 3D on mine is always off, but this does look like a bit of an albatross. That said my little boy wants a 3DS for Christmas and I'm always a bit paranoid about him snapping the hinge on mine as he did with my old DS lite. I can see what they're going for, but they really should have put the second stick on there.

why would you trade in a 3dsxl for this..?

Shouldn't game be giving US the 20 quid?

this is a good idea for kids, don't know why anyone would trade in a 3ds for this tho

Please god nobody actually takes up this offer, especially swapping the 3DS. If only Trading Standards could get involved, this amounts to fraud!

Why would anyone wanna pay more when giving in a XL!?

Wow. Well that escalated quickly.

This is stupid...

Adding a second stick would be a bad plan as it would split the consoles install base dundee everyone with and existing 3ds or xl wouldn't have the stick. I realise there is an ad on, but most add on bits for consoles simply fail, so I don't blame them.

This thing looks horrible though, what are they thinking..

A tempting deal, but I found a better investment

Not even remotely a deal. You lose money.

I actually like the idea of the 2DS, shoulda been under £100 though.

But this has to be the worst "deal" I think I've ever saw. Seriously.

Trade in a good piece of kit, add some money on top, and get an inferior piece of kit in return? Buhahahaaaaaaaa.....

You can pick up a 3ds second hand for £80. They've got to aim lower than this to make this a success.

Nintendo man, wise up and get with it, stupid launch prices of the Wii u almost killed it.

Hinge still a problem, my son managed to snap his 3DS in two...
