Just purchased four of these and although listed as a generic Novatech part the current stock is Crucial and therefore very good value at this price.

What is the crucial part number and can you give any more information??

Suberb deal! Very useful for those of us that have just bought Acer Revos...

No guarantee that's what I would get so no deal :lol

hot from me if you can give us the part number and specification e.g. CL4 or CL5

Presumably you'd get 2GB PC6400 800Mhz SO-DIMM ...... - where is this cheaper?

The point that was being made is that you could be getting anything even unbranded RAM which is a risk from my experience. Have Novatech been known to ship unbranded RAM?

The delivered price is £28.84

£5.99 delivery charge, total rip off!!!!!!!

£33.44 in total, title should be changed too.

I'm pretty comfortable with 'even' unbranded RAM - the only brand I trust is GEORGE!

I can't even find unbranded RAM this cheap, so a deal, no?

Final price depends on the value of your order.

The point that I and another were making was that there’s no guarantee that this will be Crucial. Whether people are comfortable with RAM by FRED is up to them.

But that’s not really the point; the minimum cost for this RAM bought alone is not £26.55. Just trying to point out the way things are done in HUKD to a new poster. E.g. give the minimum price for one item delivered and then mention possible postage savings and cashback deals.

Novatech use Quidco and Topcashback

Fair points, and I should have pointed out Quidco (which I used) however not convinced that 'brand name' memory is a selling point ( crucial don't make it either)
Anyway, I;ll find out in a few days ...

Was well worth it to me as I 'needed' 8 of these chips .

This remains, however, a very hot deal despite all the bitching about it!

Not sure what you mean by that as Crucial is a major brand name and they use RAM chips supplied by their parent company Micron who also have a joint venture with Intel making flash memory.

So clarifying info and letting a new poster now the rules is bitching.

You will see the so called b'tching if anyone gets generic memory when they hoped to get the same as you eluded to, with a 1 year warranty instead of lifetime warranty on Crucial.

When I posted, I meant with my luck I will get generic an its definitely not something to buy without knowing anything about the generic nature of the generic module and said warranty.

I think the chance of paying nearly £30 for generic is not a hot deal (for me). At the minute with the price you can class it as that but I could buy branded for £7.99 delivered for a 1 gig module a couple of months ago.
Yeah I know it's not a couple of months ago now and you consider nearly £30 is a good deal and for you and many others you are right at the minute.
I maybe would if it was guaranteed to be crucial then take a chance on Novatech as many have had bad service when things go wrong.

I never voted cold or said the deal was cold i merely construed a reply to show "with my luck"

Original Poster

Sorry to have caused so much uproar, I collected in person from the Portsmouth store/warehouse so hadn't given much thought to postage...sorry again. And after much web browsing this is very cheap for a top quality branded RAM like CRUCIAL. The Novatech stock code is NBM-80/2G and if you phone to check what you will be supplied they will happily oblige. The crucial box looks like ]this and its is CL6 but you wouldn't notice the difference from CL5 (probably no more than 2%) you will pay alot for a CL4 800Mhz SO-DIMM.

Just ordered a pair with free shipping? Cost £53.11. Sorted. Thanks OP, H&R left.

Thanks but Cas latency of 6 is no good for me anyways.

My Novatech RAM turned up today - like an earlier poster did, the trick is to order 4GB of the stuff to get free postage, although Novatech then switched to second class postage to get their own back (finally turned up 4 days after the "dispatched" e-mail...).

It is indeed 4GB of legit Crucial RAM with a part number for each 2GB stick of CT25664AC800 in the same Crucial boxes as the photo showed - Crucial are charging 75.89 quid for 4GB, so this is a good deal to get some 22 odd quid off. I'm off to install it in my Revo R3610, although I'm scared after viewing this

However, buyer beware - Novatech make *no* reference to Crucial (words or pics) for the product on their site and they'd be perfectly entitled to substitute this with an "equivalent" generic brand if they so wished.

Update: RAM installed OK and works fine. I used a fairly large flat-blade screwdriver (small ones don't work and may mark your case) to lever the Revo case like in the video, once you've done about a side and a half, you can hand-lever the rest. Sure enough, putting the case back on required you to push in the sides as you snapped the lid back on. Couldn't peel the warranty sticker off first - I hate that upgrading the RAM yourself on Acer kit apparently voids the warranty...a stupid, stupid state of affairs.
