The Notorious B.I.G. Was also in a class of his own. In my opinion he was a lot smoother. But both good

Grime! Lol
Sleeping on Kendrick Lamar if you think all modern rap is just Mumble Rap
Even Kendrick doesn’t come close to Makaveli and co, lets be real.
If Drake is the most popular rapper today, I shudder to think how big those two and that era could have been with the internet, social media an all.
Vanilla Ice was the biggest rapper of his day. We just don't realise it because we forget the rubbish as time passes, it's folly to think the past was better.
Lazy 8ugger!!
A 2lp fair enough, but 4 and I'll just stream or stick to my old cd copy
Yep. Ma man Biggie Smalls does.
Vanilla ice had one hit, thats it. Was not the biggest rapper of his day.
He was the first rapper to reach number 1, had a number 1 album and another top 10 hit. He had major chart success.
And let's not even bring up the evil that was MC Hammer
Not overrated but the best tracks off each disc would’ve made a absolute classic. 2 discs was a stretch to far as some fillers on there. Same with B.I.G’s Life after Death, some horse ish on those two disc but the best off both discs would’ve been a classic.

Just a white kid from missuori walking 8mile
X gon give it to ya!
Not sure about 2pac but the lady there is definitely packing 2!
There was a lot of rubbish though from Vanilla Ice that we’ve tried to forget. Not really a fair comparison.
Normally I agree with you that people have rose tinted glasses when viewing the past but the music speaks for itself.
Today’s music is all auto tune and hugely manufactured. As are the artists personality to begin with.
Can’t really say that about 2pac and biggie smalls. Then again can’t help but think your comment was sarcastic…
Hahahaha Tekashi 69
Good one
But guys like that honestly sum up what's wrong with hip hop today, difficult to even call it hip hop. The average rappers from the 90s / 00s look like rap gods next to these scream / mumble rapping idiots.
Of course there's still decent stuff out there, but you have to sift through a lot more crap like this this to get there
Yeah the only good rapper is Kendrick, I guess Eminem is alright but he's not exactly a gangster rapper more like a Pop Singer who sings too fast
Oh we realise one thing for sure that it is totally a personal preference that's it... and can't forget any of it and past was amazing and people were much cooler back then..
Don't put yourself down, you made a valid point.
Eminem is amazing if you listen to his early stuff. Definitely never been a “gangster” rapper though. (I’m thinking back to an interrogation of 2pac on camera, where he was questioned about “gangster” rap and was like bemused by the term). Eminem was a bit more personally tragic in some sense. He’s lost his edge a bit I feel since he’s gotten clean but rather have him clean than not at all because he’s overdosed on crap. Remains to be seen if he can reinvent himself.
Definitely cooler lol.
Today’s guys are too similar to each other. Almost like there’s no characters left in the genre now.
Yeah his earlier stuff was good but now not so much imo
Also they all sound a bit too familiar
A lot of musicians are the same
It's amazing how someone like Tekashi69, can't rap without autotune, makes trash music , rainbow hair, 69 tattoo on his face, rats on everyone
Also I think it someone like someone from NWA (Ice cube) is now starring in Comedy movies
Only reason why the bloodz let Tekashi69 in with his rainbow hair and no needing to shoot someone to prove loyalty, because he was making them tons of money and he needed them, they took a cut
Last couple albums have been misses but fair play to rabbit to not dodging criticism or questions about it. Admitted straight up he missed the mark and needs to do better.
Think Kanye West could give Tekashi 69 a run for his money. Kanye is awful genuinely once the auto tune comes out. Listen to love lock down from him once the auto tune is taken off. The normal version of the song makes me think it’s been taken off already.
Ratting on people is a big deal. Lose all if you had any credibility. Not just in rap but generally in life.
Ice cube does do comedy now but I liked his stuff too. Guy makes it so easy to bust a line...I’m forever like “why can’t I have that rhythm” lol.
To be honest, some of the beats produced today are excellent. So they have that.
