Is AES hardware encryption a common on NVMe drives? Why is it listed as a con? Is it usually only on the high tier?
    Gort1951's avatar
It has to be enabled in BIOS. If not enabled Drive can be used in another PC. If enabled other PC needs the Matching Keys that are stored on the Controller of the Drive.

It's only of use if the Drive was stollen from the PC. Drive might contain 1,,000s of User's Credit Card details.

Not even a con. A Company/Business wouldn't be looking at these Drives. (edited)

How can I find out which one has dram and which one doesn't?
    Abs_Hope's avatar
By model and knowledge of Internet, unfortunately. Despite being DRAMless, this model in particular has HMB technology which can use your computer RAM as DRAM, effectively giving you the same advantage but at a lower cost. HMB only works on PC though, so this is not a good option for PS5, plus it doesn't have a heatsink anyways.

Just watch out, there is an issue with this item not being recognized on the nvme slot closest to the cpu. Check online for details.

Try instead Samsung 980 Pro, Samsung pays you back £40 after purchase.

I can’t see if the heat sink 2tb qualifies for this anywhere?
