That's a fairly good deal. I've had a few recertified drives from WD before and never had any problems with them.
Might pick up another as external drive for the xbox one.

Just remember to always have a backup of your data!

Yeah these will work with PS4 and Xbox One for anyone interested

Good deal, I got one of these last time they were on the recertified store. Working great and a good saving.

Will this work with windows 10 ?

It's actually not WD who sells those drives. It's a company called 'Digital River', which used to sell Canon refurbished item on auction sites. My experience with Digital River was not good with a Canon item some years ago (scratched screen on camera, which broke down after one use). Maybe they have improved.

Yes, I use one of mine with Windows 10 and Windows 8.1

Just sending my 4Tb recertified back after failing an extended test with 'too many bad sectors'
Maybe just unlucky!

Takes a long time though!

That's fine. Thank you so
Much, I just bought one to back up my MacBook Air which only has 120gb
Hardrivr space!

I'm concerned about this limited warranty- do they arrange collection/delivery costs if the drive is faulty? Or does the customer have to pay?

Any chance of getting one of these to work with a Windows XP PC?

If you buy a WD MyBook external hard drive the software to test the disk comes on the drive but has to be installed of course.

It may come on some other WD hard drives, I am not sure.

That's why they're so cheap.

Well, I double checked I have the ability to get PayPal to cover any costs to send anything back and was ready to go- but I did some Googling on Digital River who are the company actually responsible for these recertified drives on the WD website and I don't think I'll be touching this with a bargepole unfortunately.

Why please as I am looking at one of these. Thx.

I bought 3 of these (re certified) drives year ago 1TB ones for £29. And none of my drives have any problems so far, and they came in brand new condition, no scratches, no marks.

Guys, what is the difference between a portable hard drive and a passport?
Don't judge me for not knowing. 😭

The name "Passport" is a Western Digital product name for what is in effect a portable hard drive so they are the same thing.

However this Passport drive does seem to come with some "extra" software (Backup software, Security software etc) that may not come with a cheaper portable hard drive.

However you don't need to use any of this software and can jut use it as a basic portable hard drive if you wish.

WD would hardly risk their reputation by selling faulty hard drives.

I am not sure most of these are "recertified" (there are too many on offer for that to be the case).

I think this is WD selling direct to to the public and cutting out the "middle man" (retail outlet)

However they cant sell them a "new" as that would upset the retailers who are charging full price.

I bought two 4TB MyBook Recertified drives from their web site a couple of weeks ago and have run numerous tests on the drives and they have been fine.

Would it be suitable to record onto from a smart tv

Recertified?!? On a mechanical device?!? Good luck with that cold from me

I've had this deal before perhaps about 2 years ago and the drive is still going strong with about 1TB of movies and music on it. I don't know if it's the case with this deal but I also got a discount code for 15% off my next purchase from them (not including the recertified sale) but it was only valid for a month so I never got to use it. Ordered another one from them yesterday which I'll format to use with my Mac Book Pro. Just split it up into 3 or 4 partitions and you can use it as your Apple Time Capsule backup drive, store plenty of media on it and apart from the Time Capsule partition format the others to FAT32 and they'll be interchangeable with Mac and Windows, Linux, Chrome books and Androids.
