Hotel Description
Perched between two hills and five minutes’ drive away from a beach, the Marbel Hotel’s in a great spot for relaxed holidays in Izmir. This whitewashed hotel flaunts a curvy pool surrounded by comfortable sunloungers. There’s a cocktail bar out here, too. You’ve got music during the day, and pool games if you fancy a break from sunbathing.
Elsewhere, there’s a modern restaurant serving a fusion of Turkish dishes and international cuisine. And a spa keeps up with the local theme by putting hammam sessions and Turkish massages on the menu.

Pools
The pool’s a curvy character, and has sunbeds dotted around its edge. Chips, burgers and pizzas are dished up at the nearby snack bar.

Food & Drink
You’ll find self-serve eats in the restaurant, which dishes up meals three times a day. At breakfast, there are things like eggs, omelettes, toast and cereal.

Entertainment
Karaoke, bingo and quizzes kick off later on. Little ones can strut their stuff at the mini-disco.

Sports & Activities
You can dust off your serve on the tennis court, or get stuck in to the round-the-pool activities – think darts, water polo and team games. There’s ping pong and billiards*, too.

Health & Beauty
The Turkish bath*, the sauna*, the steam room* and the hammam* are all at the ready for relaxing. And, you can plump for a massage treatment* if you fancy it.
Squeeze in a mid-trip workout at the well-equipped gym.

Facility Summary
There’s a pretty pool on the scene here, backed up by a snack bar and a petite patch for sunbathing. On the food front, you’ve got a serve-yourself restaurant coming up trumps for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Activities include water polo and darts, and you’ll spot a ping pong table, as well. After dark, get involved with bingo and karaoke, while the kids run along to the mini-club.

Rooms
Twin rooms sleep up to 3. The room comes with air-conditioning, 1 extra bed in the bedroom, a shower and a flatscreen TV. And lastly it is complemented by a balcony.

As it happens I'm staying at this hotel from Saturday for 7 nights. I'll report back once there on whether it's worth it.

Last time we went to Turkey, it was full of Russians who wouldn't even say hello, sea was full of litter and outside the hotel was a virtual ghetto if it was 70 quid I'd still give it a miss. We stayed in palm wings near bodrum
