3 + 2 sofa set £459.99 @ Wayfair

We've been looking for a cheap 3+2 sofa set as we have two toddlers and know it will get trashed for the next couple of years. This is the cheapest we've seen but we can't find any reviews to see if it's any good. Any views whether it's worth cutting costs or better to spend a bit more? We had been looking at some Tesco sofas that were cheap. This one is also available via Tesco with points, but the colour we'd want, grey, is out of stock.

thanks for that I need a new sofa but at the prices on that site I can afford a set. probably still cheap with delivery to London but I'll have to check into that.

I hope you don't have kids. That is all :-/

bought wayfair sofa bed via Tesco and pleasantly surprised about quality of it .... feels sturdy and well made
very easy to assemble. Actual material is synthetic leather so doesn't look or feel like the real stuff but we don't personally mind it.

overall comfy sofa and their helpline staff were very good.

As you say we also went for 'couple of year's use and I believe this will probably last longer if not ... not much dent in bank balance :-)

We have two young children ones four and the other is one

We need a new three and a two sofa really wouldn't recommend getting fabric with children it has to be leather.

These get good reviews plus there's a 20% off code that ends today making them £160

Had two 3 seater leather settees from Courts before they went into administration for £300 each and they have lasted 4 kids and 11 years so far. One is a bit knackered now but to be fair that is the TV sofa. I think they were half price at the time (I know there's no offer on a time machine and cool story blah blah).

Point is if you do find some leather ones for your budget then they're the ones to get. We did buy a Tesco stanza sofa around 3 years ago and it quickly deteriorated with the plasticky effect cracking and measly padding. I wouldn't recommend that sofa (unless it's really cheap - we got a bright pink L shape for £80). We also bought some bonded leather Tesco Chesterfield when they were on offer recently and the material seems sturdy and should last.

I do have kids but that didn't stop me buying the furniture I wanted, my 3 + 2 cost just under £4000 and they look as good today as the day I bought them! I would NEVER put rubbish in my house because my kids are out of control, the idea is to teach your brats how to behave and then you can have, and keep, nice things!!

Gball totally agree. If ur kids wanna eat, draw etc don't do it on the sofa.

Anyone have a tesco direct 20% coupon I can use? The TD-FGRT isn't working.

Wonder what the quality is like there is no reviews on them

looks like a new site, most products dont have reviews. am not too far from them actually... plan to pop down to one of their stores and check it out. leather is a better option with kids around.

I had 2 and 3 seater faux leather sofas from Tesco. Faux leather started peeling after 2yrs. Wrote to Tesco, offered £30 voucher! Contact Furniture Ombudsman who sent someone round to inspect and Tesco ordered to refund in full.

Oh really we have our current faux leather one from Harvey's and it's doing exactly the same thing as you have mentioned.

We have had it 4 years so doubt we will be able to do anything about it now

As so well put above, bring your kids up properly and they won't trash it - it isn't inevitable. And buy a decent quality set on eBay for the same money (or probably a lot less). It will last you a hell of a lot longer than the cheapy you've linked to.

Thanks for all the feedback and helpful comments, but not for the parenting tips. It's mumsnet you need, not a friendly money-saving community.

Genuine opinions are one thing but that's just dreadful, condescending nonsense and you should both be ashamed of yourselves.
