Having seen the posts by HolidayPirates, I'm becoming quite a fan of Open-jaw flights (flying from one airport, returning to another). Anway, Qatar airlines has a 3 day sale starting today (4/9) for flight booking up until March 2013.

Stockholm->Mumbai->Heathrow is £254

Rome->Hong Kong->Heathrow is £301

Rome->Bangkok->London Heathrow is £301.

Venice->Singapore->London Heathrow is £301

Rome->Kuala Lumpur->London Heathrow is £314.

Rome->Male (Maldives>->Heathrow is £314

Venice->Seoul->Heathrow £318

Rome->Tokyo->Heathrow is £324

Zimbo600 found these
Venice-Perth-Heathrow £387 That's Perth,Australia by the way!
Venice or Rome - Jo'Burg - Heathrow £315

All you need to do is add a one-way flight to your departure point. E.g. Rome (from £30ish), Venice etc. British Airways have some cheap flights to Venice from £45 including 23kg baggage and debit card booking fee.

To see cheap flights click the link below and change the dates / airports

kayak.co.uk/

Remember to ensure that the London airports are 'ticked'. You can also tick Kuala Lumpur and Singapore if you wish to fly-to/return from a different airport.

Returning to Manchester is about £10 more

E.g. Venice->Singapore->Manchester £311

Note..when re-directed to Qatar Airways the price shown will probably be in EURO.

Bobbins says:-
If anyone collects Avios then a single flight to Rome or Venice on BA is only 7500 Avios + £13.50 to cover all taxes and fees.

An even better tip is to fly from Milan (similar fares on Qatar as compared to starting at Venice and Rome) as this is only 4500 Avios + £13.50. If you don't have that many Avios you can pay 2250 Avios + £13.50 + a little bit of cash, and you have BA flights from anywhere in the UK (same number of Avios as London) with no luggage restriction and general crap that comes with the low cost carriers.

If you don't have any Avios but have some Tesco Clubard vouchers, convert £15 of these to 4500 Avios and along with £13.50 that will get you from any airport BA serves in the UK to Milan. Voila!

Prices seem to be a little more expensive next year but Venice and Madrid are also cheap starting places.

E.g. Venice->Singapore->London Heathrow is £326 (19/2-12/3)
I would never go to Kuala Lumpur again, there are permanent thunderstorms there.
Similar prices to Seychelles and Male. KL thunderstorms depends entirely on what time of year you go, the same could be said for lots of cities in tropical destinations if you go at the wrong time of year.

I would say the same thing to London as it's very difficult to find sunshine here ( I live in London though) especially during the November-February. Everyone here knows it's winters season. So, it depends the timing. Tropical destinations have seasons too. You should check before planning to go for holidays there. That comment was simply blunt.
I think you've quoted the wrong post!!

I've added Male, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

Note, Bangkok doesn't appear as cheap next year.
Found some destinations are cheaper from Venice - British Airways also has a 0745 departure from London Gatwick with one-way prices from £45 including 23kg baggage.

Never to KL. Nightmare exp with immigration Some sadist at the counter
Heat added, although not that worth, the tickets go away very quickly leaving tickets with long transit hours for known destinations. Again they have blackout dates:

Blackout dates (travel not allowed):
• 14th - 23rd December 2012 and 2nd - 20th January 2013
• Additional blackout dates for itineraries originating from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen: Outbound travel from 17th - 29th October 2012 and return travel from 27th October to 5th November 2012

i tried with the above example, using multicity search, and it told me it would cost over 7, 000 euros, rather than £326, as shown by OP.

can anyone tell me what i've done wrong please?
thanks.

nothing to qatar?
If you aren't seeing the cheap fares, make sure your travel dates are within the rules for the sale fares (see Qatar Airways website).

Also make sure Kayak or Expedia show the cheap fares, then make sure you select the SAME flights when booking through Qatar website.
Amazingly good deals. Thanks for pointing it out.

BTW I love KL. one of my favourite cities and the Malaysian people are so so nice. Food is amazing and its one of the cheaper far eastern cities.

I'm sure it depends on season but when I went it rained for one hour every day but it was like clock work. So you knew roughly when to stay in.
KL is great. Not sure what the comment about thunderstorms is about????

Any chance of linking me to the Perth flight(s)? Fiddling around with it and can only seem to get ~£700 flights even when keeping within the cheap fare date parameters. Much appreciated if you can, I'm looking for a trip to Oz.
I didn't experience any passport issues for malaysia- i did come in from singapore
and i didn't experience any thunderstorms! i went about a month after the tropical storm season.
link just takes you to the qatar page ... and the sale page is just a generic page with no real deals
Read the first post about using Kayak

Perth link here, just tick Heathrow to see cheap 382 fare

Thanks Zimbo
I keep finding decent flights for Qatar but when I go onto the site, it doesn't show one of the flights to get the cheap fare. Any ideas?
I went to Kuala Lumpur last year and experienced thunderstorms/heavy rain every day I was there. There were occasional bright patches, but every day had a substantial amount of rain. I had one great day out in the sunshine but it rained just before dinner time and hardly stopped. At the time I put the city in my iphone weather list.

Since then I've checked it randomly, about once or twice a month, and EVERY single time the entire week is filled with the thunderstorm icon.

Now I'm not saying the iphone weather list is infallible, but I've occasionally correlated it with online weather sites, and yup thunderstorms.

Jeez, the name Kuala Lumpur means muddy estuary in English. How'd you think it got muddy?

I think the maximum stay is 1 month, except for Oz.
I did find Rome-Bangkok-Heathrow for £389 from 15/2 to 15/3 if that helps.
And the cost of getting to rome???
how does the open jaw ticket work? I can't seem to get my head around it!

seems to be a lot of options - here's another one -

Depart: Wed 20/2 Return: Wed 13/3 +1 day (Trip spans 23 days)
£385
Qatar Airways
VCE 15:10 BKK 18:30 21h 20m 1 stop (DOH)
BKK 08:35 VCE 13:40 35h 5m 1 stop (DOH)

I have tried various dates around this time for 3/4 weeks are they are all about the same price - this one is going from and returning to Venice so a good excuse for an extra few days in Venice! (I love Venice)
Really confused. Can't seem to find anything I'd want. OP says from Rome to Tokyo then back to Heathrow, but I can't manage to do that? No Tokyo flights from UK from what I can see.

I'd want to go for 10 days in Feb to Tokyo, returning to Any London
