You can also get 10% discount in store if you have an NUS Extra student card. (See my deal & others to get one).

That brings it to £27.73 each for me using discount & a £5 voucher.

It does broadcasting fine. Calling is missing though but that’s not surprising as I believe it uses Google Voice which we don’t have in the UK, i suspect our phone setup here is more complex than the us system

Morrisons? They are currently running a promotion where, if you buy a £50 gift voucher, you get a 5000 point bonus (worth £5) plus the standard 1650 points, giving a total "refund" of £6.25 per £50 voucher. Currys vouchers are included.

Not really.
You can cast music from the google play app to the google mini, but you can't say "Hey google play [music name]" from your library. You need a paid subscription to Google Play, Deezer or Spotify.
I was disappointed by this too after my purchase.

Yes Google announced last July that it was possible to play your uploaded music, even without a subscription, but it is not possible. It's created alot of anger at on the Google Home support forum

I don't subscribe to Google music and I have no problems playing my music from the app, I just say the name of the album, artist or song and it plays it with no problems at all, but when I ask for a song not in the music app it tells me it's not on my app and that it can't play it.

Yes, mine works fine, I just ask it to play a particular song or artist and it plays them no problems at all, and none are in a playlist, and I don't subscribe to Google music.

Actually it can play music you've uploaded. The trick is to put them into playlists and then ask Google to play your playlist by name. This method doesn't require a subscription but doesn't allow you to ask google to play a specific song.

Funny how it works for you and not others.

I just tried again, and while it did play some random music, I couldn't choose anything from my library. Everything just said not available at the moment.

What exact command do you use to ask it to play a song from your uploaded music, and can you tell me whether the song(s) in question are in the paid Google Play Music service?
The experience of alot of people (including myself) is that it will only play songs in your library if they are not listed in the paid Google Play Music service. So for example if I say "Hey Google, play The Jean Genie from my library" it'll play a version from a live album that I have, which isn't available on Google Play Music. But if I say "Hey Google, play Sound and Vision" (which I uploaded but which is also in the Google Play Music library) it willl say "Sorry, Sound and Vision isn't available in your area" (even though I've uploaded it to my Google Play Music library.
I use the My Media skill to play music from my network storage via Alexa. Anybody figured out anything similar for Google Home?

The music in my Google music library is mostly, Foo fighters, stone roses, the charlatans, Red hot chili peppers, linkin park, for example I ask Google home to play Foo fighters Everlong, and it says playing Foo fighters Everlong from your Google play library, and the song starts, I don't subscribe to Google play music either, not sure why it works for me and not others, I wasn't even aware there was a problem that other people were having trying to get Google home to play their music, I will upload a new album tonight and try it to see if it works or fails.
These minis seem to be OOS in all my local Curry, Argos and Maplin shops. Guess I just missed the boat...

You cant select a destination for the broadcast. It broadcasts to all devices that are signed in.

I would not use a google home mini to play music unless it's meant as low volume background music, the quality isn't good enough (my personal view, but I'm sure someone will contradict me )
I'd rather cast my music to chromecast audios and this is where you need a premium subscription to play on chromecast devices by saying "Hey google"...
