My bike chain is starting to rust any thing I can apply to stop this? …My bike chain is starting to rust any thing I can apply to stop this? Thanks

Clean it with degreaser and apply a proper chain lubricant, this won’t last.
I wouldn't bother , click and collect orders get cancelled all the time and you will NOT get an email to inform you of this. Upon collection you will be informed Seriously , the customer services here don't care, they are the lowest of the low.

£7.13 regular price? I don't think so!
Ordered thanks.
These items never available in my store.
Do you need to clean the bike before applying?
I ordered some bargain sale items by 'click and collect'. I arrived at the shop the day after my notification told me to and was told they had been put back in stock and the new price of the items had tripled. A well lubricated con going on.

Which part of the bike are you applying it to?

I usually use WD40 to help clean and then wipe off but most parts are better off with chain oil or grease for longevity.
Is this essentially the same as WD40?

This. I'd never use a spray lubricant on my chain. Will end up much worse.

Get a new chain or take it to a bike shop who can do it for you. Shouldn't be more than 30 - 40 quid.

Then ensure that every few weeks you clean the chain with something like Muc-off cleaner and then reapply a dry bike chain lubricant.

Don't get the wet ones as they cause dirt to stick to the chain immediately and then the lubricant acts like sandpaper and wears your chain out much faster.

A decent bike and regular maintenance will last a life time!

It's a skill definitely worth learning the basics of! Takes a little bit of money to get the cleaning bits together but will pay off in the long run.

Good luck!

Really depends whether he is planning to ride it in the wet or not, wet picks up the dirt more easily but dry just washes out in the wet. You just need to clean and lube more frequently if riding in rain.

Or just get a 2 in 1 lubricant and have the best of both worlds!

I bought this for a few pence more before it was posted on here. ‘End’ date on the bottom of th can is Oct 2017.

That said, I’m sure it’s fine.
I tend to stick to muc-off for bike stuff. Haven't had a problem yet.

Clean with MucOff degreaser (or the Decathlon one is decent as well) then MucOff wet lube in autumn/winter & dry lube in spring/summer
Like quite a few customers above, bought items via click and collect - travelled 20 miles to collect as nearest store didnt have items in stock.
When i got there was told they too had sold out ..No notification, no apology, no attempt to fulfill my confirmed order..Emailed customer services to question what went off- no reply.. A joke of a company when it comes to professional customer care..!!
Click and collect...if you leave it too long it will have gone back on the shelf and gone

Cheers...I didn't know the official time
You can use in mostly every surface? Really?
Heat removed given the terrible treatment of customers, if you click and collect you expect to be able to collect.
sold out everywhere
Thanks for posting, we have added this to the Highlights pages

Degreaase the chain by pouring degreaser into a bottle.. use a bridge to brush it into that chain..you can use the sprays
Keep it away from brakes and bearings ...just added work if you over spray .
I use a chain brush to scrub the plates of the chain getting into the plates and rollers.
Rinse with warm water ..dry with a old rag .
Making sure chain is clean and dry .
Re apply chain lube.
Don't use WD40 etc.
Get a good chain lube .
Wipe the chain over after every wet weather rides ..re apply a few drops of lube if needed. Do this regularly the drivetrain will thank you for it .saves expensive trips to the LBS

I paid £20 for a new ultegra chain. Got the tools to do it myself, which was an easy job to change.

But it you took it to a shop they would charge about the same for the chain and then the labour.

The new chain I fitted makes the running gear so much smoother with proper lubricant and cleaning.
Good code
