Place baked potatoes wrapped in foil in cupboards around your house. In the event of a house fire, you have a warm and nutritious snack.

No idea what this means but it made me laugh at my desk

Well me neither really lol. For those unaware, Roger's Profanisaurus (I misspelled it earlier) is just a list of euphemisms which are explained by reference to other euphemisms.

If there's one subscription you forget to cancel this week, let it be this one!
Signed up, mainly for the mug, although I'll also be reading the Viz (well looking at the nice pictures at least).
No mention of the mug in the confirmation email, but I'm sure it will arrive.... hopefully.
Heat added!
anyone know how easy it is to cancel? Can you cancel online or do you need to phone up, get stuck in a 20 minute queue then have to fend off all sorts of special deals before they'll actually cancel?

I plan to do what I always do with trial subscriptions, once they take the payment I've signed up for, I'll cancel the direct debit at my side. That means they can't take any further payments by that method.
If they make it easy to contact them to cancel I'll also let them know, but will always cancel the DD anyway just to be sure.

And then you'll find out that the "free" mug is only delivered once the first issue of your subscription proper has been delivered, tying you in for a year at full price. Its definitely not as funny as it used to be.

I resisted the not as funny as it used to be quote, but now I see you using it I wish I hadn't
I don't want the mug bad enough to pay for a year, so will cancel before the proper subscription starts, and I'll have at least 3 toilet visits without using my mobile and go old school with the Viz.
Oh man...this took me back to my pre-teen years

This offer will cost them more than it will make in the hope you subscribe at full price. Do you intend to do this? If not, it won't be helping.
Memories of school bus journeys in the late 80s!!

Yeah will leave it to subscribe until the wife complains

Last time I did the three month trial I just had to send one email to subscriptions@lifestyle.dennis.co.uk with my order number saying 'please cancel my subscription' and I got an email back the next day saying it had been cancelled. No attempts at retention or anything like that. Well worth a quid for three issues of what is still a very funny read.
I have loved VIZ for over 30 years now.

I always have a chuckle to myself when people are talking about PC culture. VIZ is never mentioned because people who actually get offended at everything haven't heard of it, and the people that get pretend offended at everything like it.
If you go on the Abebooks website, you can get second hand copies of the VIZ annuals for around £2 delivered. Great Christmas gifts. I can also recommend Roger Mellie's Profanisaurous. I still laugh out loud at phrases like, 'Coming off at the Billy Mill roundabout'.

Worth a go! Thanks.
If anyone watched "Who Are You Calling Fat" on BBC2 last night, I'm sure they were pleased to see Millie Tant is alive and kicking and appearing on that show ...
Subbed, have some heat. Used to love Viz, bought one the other week in Asda and had to get it authorised at the self-service tills.

No mention of mug at all past the first page but here's hoping that arrives in one piece too.

What a great read. Looks like we're all being taken back to our younger years. Hehe.

Lol still got me free Sid the Sexist mug when they did this offer a good few years ago
I always preferred 'Zit'
Worth it for the drunken bakers and the mail online alone

Wtf! You got issues if you can bash one out to Comic characters but then again your name says it all pmsl.
Heat added good find OP
Thanks for the post, reminds me of seeing lessons, myself and Simon, the only other lad, being sent to sit in the cupboard, two hours of Viz reading.
I'm getting a 403 - Not Allowed error when trying to follow the link now.
aurora29/10/2019 12:15

Well me neither really lol

I had to google it, not quite sure how much I can say here but the explanation is thus - If you go over the Billy Mill roundabout, there's no turning around until you get to the coast.
OMG .. Is this still going. Great memories from my youth. +1 OP
when do they take the second payment i.e the proper subscription fee. Is it after issue 3 is sent?

Also, when I click the link it says '403 - Not allowed'. Is this deal facebook related? As my work laptop prohibits access to anything facebook. Either that or the deal has now expired?

Jack Black is sadly missed.
My favourite tip from readers corner was :

Paint a giant blue rectangle in your garden !
That way anytime an aeroplane flys overhead, people will think that you've got a swimming pool in your garden.
Thats just genius !

I did this, and once it updated on google maps - zoopla added £75k to the price of my house !!
