I used to be this way, I saw no reason to subscribe to any of these streaming services when I knew I could just torrent all the music I wanted to listen to. Then one day I started a three-month Spotify trial on a whim and have been subscribed to it ever since. I mean sure, I could get it for free, but it’s just a whole lot of effort compared to just clicking on any song on any album. Paying £4.99 (student discount) a month is literally nothing given how much music I listen to. Also I’ve discovered so many new artists through it by browsing through my recommendations and the social aspect of it is brilliant in that you’re able to make collaborative playlists with your friends.

If your having to apply equaliser settings to music you clearly misunderstand the concept of hi fidelity. You should be aiming to listen to the piece as it was recorded and mastered in the studio. Good hifi equipment aims to add nothing and leave nothing out with the cleanest possible signal path. Conisseur? Deezer + eq + a pair of beats or other bass heavy trash does not constitute HI-FI.

Anyone know about this? How does it compare with spotify? Can it be linked to Amazon?

Tidal is basically spotify but for audiophiles, set up by Jay-Z it aims to have higher quality music files but costs more than spotify. If you just listen with standard headphones you won't notice a difference
Sadly premium not hifi but heat anyway
Not bothered about HIFI hey its FREE for three mths love it heat added
I aim a music conniasuer with sound quality and the hifi sound quality was nowhere near deezer's with the equaliser
Barely noticeable difference between Spotify HQ and Tidal through my Sennheiser HD660S. Can't beat free, though.
Is this streaming only or can you download for offline like others?
Any other free music streaming offers out there?
sold out
You can get 3 months Tidal HiFi 99p on eBay.. how legit it is I don't know however
Thanks OP

There always used to be the option to get a 3 month trial via the Sennheiser Captune app. Download the app and set up an account and get 3 months HIFI access for free. I'm assuming that offer is still live.
The Groupon offer still works. Just tried it. Thanks

I've been using Tidal on freebie accounts for about a year now and it's 'okay' but can be very flakey. Also be aware that it can eat your data - a single track on Tidal can be 50mb compared to about 5mb on Spotify. Additionally, it buffers horribly if you don't have a strong signal and downloading the tracks for offline can be hit and miss.
Having said all that, free high quality music is great and I will almost certainly be signing up again at the end of my fourth free trial.

I have used Tidal for a year now, £9.99 basic subs, same price/music/quality as Spotify Apple etc. There’s an option for HiFi sound quality if you like, for a bit more. They are all the same, except the playlist options.
Nothing would make me sign up to any of these streaming services. I can hop a track via torrents in minutes and my 64gb 14 GBP EE account is not as locked like my home landline ISP. I suppose if your a 16 year old greaseball starting your music collection but it would take far too long to change my 2500 mp3s to offline streams my time is too valuable I suppose. I bet you have to give your card details which would make this a no no cold from me. I have an MP3 toto Africa which I downloaded in 1997 to three floppy disks I've played it probably 500 times why should a youngster get possible punished for downloading and playing an MP3 when I continue to play mine offline and get no such risk

If you buy this through groupon do you have to cancel it via the groupon site or directly through Tidal?

Are you an actual student or an online student as NUS card holders can’t get student Spotify anymore. Does anyone know any ways round this now.
still waiting for parcellforce to deliver the mp3's after 10 days,be wary folks.
Would like a way to import my Spotify playlist over 1,500 tracks, without having to pay for the privalage

Seems like everyone got to be "audiophiles" by skipping English lessons to listen to music

Tidal was not set up by Jay-Z. It was around for a long time before he got involved.

Sadly premium not hifi but heat anyway

You can upgrade to HiFi tier and it'll give you half the length, 45 days.
Is anyone having an issue trying to redeem the code? I get "getlossless.com is not found".

I was a student last year so I still have student status for the time being. I signed up via UNiDAYS, I don’t believe they support NUS. There might be a workaround for it, but if you have any family members who are still in school and they aren’t signed up to UNiDAYS and aren’t interested in it then you could always ask them if you can sign up using their student email address.
thanks!

Bear in mind that Tidal Premium is the name for their lowest membership tier, and this isn't high quality lossless. Tidal Hi-Fi is double the price and lossless quality. You can hear the difference with standard headphones but many people won't notice, or care.

Ahhhh that explains it.

Perhaps I'll give Hi-fi a go as Spotify still haven't launched their competitor.
Thank you just got it, if I cancel straight away will I get to still use it for 3 months?
What's the interface like of tidal? I currently have the 4 months google music offer but I hate the interface and the general basicness of the app. Deezer and Spotify were both better in this respect.
