This deal is based on 2 adults flying from Edinburgh to Berlin on Monday 9th December returning Thursday 12th December, staying in the well reviewed 3* Enjoy Hotel Berlin City Messe.

There are also cheap flights throughout December from East Midlands, London and Nottingham.

These dates means you will be able to enjoy the best of Berlin’s Christmas markets. Berlin has a number of different markets at plenty of locations with large Christmas markets, it is one of my favourite destinations for getting into the spirit! The Berlin Christmas markets are some of the best markets in Europe and you have plenty of time here to see the usual sites and do a bit of Christmas shopping.

I’ve chosen the 3* Enjoy Hotel Berlin City Messe which has a private bathroom and is only a few minutes walk to the underground so you can have easy access to all areas of the city.

There is plenty of other accommodation to choose from, there are many cheaper ones if you don’t mind sharing a bathroom or staying a bit further out of town.

As the flights are with Ryanair it doesn’t include any checked luggage and no cabin bag sized hand luggage, it does however include a rucksack sized hand luggage. If you add priority boarding it is £24 each return and this will mean you can carry a 10kg cabin sized bag and a backpack. It maybe worth trying to pack everything into a rucksack as it’s only a short night trip or sharing a cabin bag if you want to keep the price down!

Price breakdown

Flight booked through Ryanair - £80.96

Hotel booked through Agoda - £95.01

Total price - £175.97

Total price each - £87.99

Total price for flights including hand luggage - £223.97

We have a German market in Manchester every year. I often wonder if they have a Manchester market in Germany selling fake dvd's, knock of clothing, drugs and pudding, chips and gravy.

They set up a massive German market which over-runs half of Princes St Gardens for weeks on end over the Xmas period. Sells all the same overpriced rubbish.Just a tourist cash cow now. They've already started assembling this year's monster. https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/organisers-edinburghs-christmas-market-should-have-applied-planning-permission-819825

Maybe the Berlin locals will be a cheerier bunch than those in Edinburgh and less beggars on the street

Rucksack hand luggage is stretching it a bit. Check sizes for hand luggage if taking this option.

We're a cheery enough bunch. Just don't like the council over-running the entire city centre and turning it all into an overpriced tourist trap. Which they do several times a year now. The Xmas market used to be OK. But it's gargantuan now. Too much.

What are the London dates?

If you'd ever been to the wonderful Gendarmenmarkt Xmas Market in Berlin, you'd realise even more how awful the Edinburgh ones are (yes, I live in Edinburgh).
The Berlin markets are just lovely, friendly jolly places with reasonable food and drink prices, good quality merchandise, and fun entertainment. Certainly not the tacky horror show rip off that Edinburgh xmas market is!

Been waiting for a good xmas market deal. Thanks
You shouldn’t say the flights are cheap throughout December from East Midlands because they’re not. Two return flights 6-9 Dec is £243.96 without luggage or seat choice before thinking about a hotel.

No. You're right.

I did get to a small one in Frankfurt one year. Early in the Xmas season tho. Was a tad underwhelmed by that too. Mind you, could say that of most of Frankfurt.

Half the current Edinburgh ones used to have stalls at T-in-the-park ….
Berlin is worth a trip anytime of year been around a dozen times and still have only scratched the surface of all it has to offer hope to return again soon 🤞 heat
East Midlands and Nottingham... Aren't they the same place in airport terms?
