This deal is based on 2 adults flying out from Luton on Saturday 22nd September returning Tuesday 25th September. I’ve chosen the centrally located Art Hostel Taurus, don’t be put off by the word Hostel, it has a private bedroom/bathroom.

If these dates aren’t ideal for you there are similar prices throughout September. There are also flight prices around these dates from Edinburgh, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham.

I recommend jumping the train to Vienna for the day. Bratislava can easily be seen in 2 days and for the 3rd day head over to Vienna. The train for a return trip costs around €14 and is only an hour away.

There is delicious traditional food in Bratislava served at “Slovak Pub” I highly recommend it!

I’ve chosen the Art Hotel Taurus which is centrally located and has a private bedroom and bathroom. The room comes with free breakfast. It has good reviews on TripAdvisor with an average of 4/5 stars.

There is a local tourist tax to be paid when you’re over in Bratislava at your accommodation of around €10.

There is plenty of other accommodation to choose from, there are many cheaper ones if you don’t mind sharing a bathroom.

I have only included hand luggage to keep the price down. You will be surprised how much you can fit into a hand luggage bag.

Price breakdown

Flight booked through Wizzair - £71.96

Hotel booked through Ebookers using voucher code AFFDISCOVER13 for 13% off. £87.61

Total price - £159.57

Total price each - £79.79

Agree with the description though be careful with taking a taxi as majority would charge you 3x times the standard rate as soon they would know that you don’t speak Slovak. There’s a bus connection to the main station from the airport, ticket is approx 1€. As for the Vienna, there should be a return train ticket for approx 18€ including all public transport in Vienna. You’d manage to see whole Bratislava in a day/day and a half.
And please don’t judge the country based on the main train station which is probably the worst in a whole Europe. Slovakia is beautiful, escape the city and go to the mountains (High Tatras).

You can hop on a bus that’ll drop you at the train station, or you can grab a taxi. The airport isn’t far only around 15-20 mins

I went in May when I was traveling around Europe. Weather was great. Beautiful city. Friendly people. Beautiful women. Amazing 4 * hotel, which was dirt cheap, just a walk from the train station. The Old town was beautiful but ruined, of a night, by stag parties and drunken louts with no respect for the local culture. Because of that, in the tourist trap areas, food and drink is at a premium. Amsterdam prices. But you can avoid those areas. I did see a couple of amazing local bands. A guy on a cello with a guy on guitar singing. They did an amazing cover of AC/DC - Whole Lotta Rosie and of course 'Stairway to Heaven' It is worth a visit.
As someone who regularly stays in hostels, I'm not sure I'd recommend one for the majority. Raucous teens and twentysomething's getting on the beers - it's not like you can expect to just walk down the hall and tell everyone to be quiet But if you're a sound sleeper and the potential disruption of things like that dont bother you, then go right ahead! Personally, I'd most likely be out there with a beer anyway!
You can do a day trip to Vienna as its not far on the train a good cost effective way to tick it of the list
All the good short break/holiday deals always seem to be from airports miles away from me. So annoying

They have uber over so would recommend downloading the app cost me €5 to go halfway round the city.
Beers are about €1.60 a pint.
Went to a restaurant called primi in the shopping centre next to the Danube paid €26pp and had a pizza starter to share, main meal each, 2 bottles of wine between the table and 2/3 alcoholic drinks each.
There are plenty of nice buildings around from the cold war and several statues of random things.
"Bobsledding" up in the mountains is seasonal but imagine it would be fun.
There is a go karting track that is about €9 for a 20 minute session I think.

Uber is no more in Bratislava. There’s a service (they have an app as well) called Hopin which works with taxi drivers where you are given quotes on how much would different drivers charge you for your ride.

Usually it's indian summer in there so can be pretty hot (30°ish)..
Worst months are april and november apart from that any month is ok.
Winter months may look depressive as it's a concrete jungle but at least there's Christmas market so its a bit nicer.
In summer you can cool yourself in lake..and there's plenty of them.
This is a great deal, however there isn't much to do there and it can all be seen in a day

Or a night depending on what you are going there for
go On the sun transfers website I think it’s about 15 Euro from airport for a driver to pick you up, there’s also much better places to get local food than the Slovak pub it’s a tourist trap.
When I went a few years ago, spent one day in Vienna for €14 return and Budapest for €16 return the following day on the train from Bratislava station. Great place for a cheap 3-in-1 holiday down the Danube. Bus to and from the airport is one of the cheapest airport transportations I’ve taken on a holiday. New town is a bit of a concert jungle as stayed above, the old town is nice with cheap €1 beer if you can stand the stag do’s.

Bratislava one word puts me off HOSTEL !
Note the flights from Luton are evening so one day is wasted. Better to take Ryanair flights from Stanstead which fly at 8:30 am to make the most of your day. They have a an evening return as well or use wiz air.

Yes thank you, just not using wizzair then lol
I heard they just got miami vice over there! It's the number 1 new show!
Stayed there last year in the Hilton doubletree about 20 min walk from old town , bar across road did pints for £1 and food was great , old town is a tourist trap with very expensive prices for drinks , friends stayed at another hotel which had its own micro brewery . We travelled there from Vienna by train . Would I go back? Probably not
Has no-one said that they hate Brits? Went there, we were polite and friendly.... But they're (generally) not particularly friendly people. Would never go back. The castle building is nice to look at from the outside, nothing inside though!

The only place we found that wasn't friendly was a brasserie on the waterfront, they tried refusing to take a 20 euro note after they had taken it away from the table because of a tiny tear, everywhere else we were welcomed and had great service, I would go back not on a family holiday though, loved all the little shops in the old town.
